Why waist your Gas? Show your clients what they ask for!

By
Real Estate Agent with Re/Max Pinnacle 0895636

Why bother waist time showing your clients what they don't want! I'm fairly new in this business and I already understand the importance of knowing what your client's wants are because gas is too expensive not to know. Listening is a skill that is important, If a client tells you they want a house with a garage and a driveway why show them a house with a big beautiful garage but no driveway. No matter how grand it is its still not perfect because its not what they want.

This is very true, but you also need to decipher what a customers true needs and wishes are. Sometimes they tell you they need a driveway but through the process you find out it's not a make or break.

For the most part I agree with you.  However, sometimes you have to use the old redirection move  and let your client know that based on the informaiton they have given you, you would like to recommend something new or different.

As an example to this, I had clients that told me there exact specifications and did not wish to see anything outside of this litte niche area.   After getting to know them and showing many homes, I finally ventured outside of the requested area and they said to me "Why did you not show us this earlier?"  The wrong answer would be to tell them that they were the ones who did not want to go outside their area but the answer I gave them was: "I first wanted to show you what you requested so I can understand what you desired".  It worked well.

We are not in escrow yet but they are making offers.

Cheers.

you are absolutely right. too many agents try to sell their own listings or think their tastes should rule. Show them what THEY want - good advise!
