Journaling to be Highly Effective

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

Hi everyone and thanks Deb for putting this together for the Rain.  I'm still in the process of finding time to develop an effective schedule to make more consistent blog entries.  However, as with most of us, my life has been changing for quite sometime now.  I have journaled off and on for a couple decades when I discovered that it really does work.  Perhaps this could be a forum that I could express my thoughts (without too much rambling) and get through this transition, as well as allow you to get to know more of who I am, and of course, by default I get to know more about you.

The very name of my business and website, www.newphaserealty.com was inspired by the sudden and unfortunate death of my father almost 4 years ago.  I had already been in the business, but the turmoil that arose out of that inspired me one day to "make a change" and created new phase.  Those of you who already know me a bit know that I have a son who will never get to know his Grandfather.  An unfortunate but sad reality shared by many throughout the world.  Some also know about my son's hospital visit a few months ago.  He is perfectly well today (thanks for prayers and excellent doctors at Fairfax Hospital) at least until the changing of the seasons, etc.  It's really too soon to accurately diagnose him.

So anyway, since my wife and I have decided that it was in the best interest of our family for her to leave teaching (after 14 years) and stay home to be with Noah, I really feel the complete freedom to work on my business (FULL-TIME).  She does eventually intend to go back when Noah enters school, but she has nevertheless grieved the decision, but is joyful at being home.  That also means, of course that at the end of this month of August 2008 our medical benefits end.  COBRA would be great...if it wasn't almost $1500 a month for a family of 3!  Enter searching for alternative health insurance...

Needless to say, that would perhaps explain why I've been up since 2:00 AM this morning.  That's, of course been happening more over the last couple of months since the decision.  It is a leap of faith of significant proportions for both of us. Many have said that "we are crazy for doing that.  Don't you want to wait until the market gets better? <negative fears, etc>"  Perhaps so, but she, like I believe in myself and attitude is everything.  I also know Who's in charge and it isn't me.  Thank You, Creator.

I watched my son all last year during the school season while my wife taught.  I will always enjoy and appreciate being a "stay at home" Dad.  However, as we enter into this "new phase of reality", I can service my clients 100%, do the continuing education, network, etc.  As I've said before, I am here to stay and learn, be educated and educate, be guided and guide, be the student and the teacher for others.  Thank you, Active Rain.

Stephen, I am so glad you have joined us. I've learned that the best way for me to get something out of my system is to write it down. This occasionally gets me into trouble but...hey....

I wish you the best of luck with the new arrangement. Noah is worth whatever sacrifice needed. You are a great dad and your wife is a brave lady.

The insurance thing is a dilemma. I'm going to think about this and I may have a suggestion for the both of you. Good luck and I'm looking forward to many posts and your total success! God Bless,

Later in the rain~Deb

Hi Deb,

Thanks for your support and encouragement.  Noah is so worth it.  Yes, sometimes my honesty has gotten me into trouble as well.  It's all about balance.  Sure, is there an affordable Realtor's National Insurance program?  I remember that NAR was also trying to create a Nationwide Credit Union.  Hmmm.
