Hey! It's the GENERAL LEE!

By

Sunday was the third annual Main Street Car Cruise in Putnam, CT.  Hosted by the town of Putnam and the Tri-State Cruisers Car Club.
Talk about cars!  I've never seen so many classic cars in one place.  Streets were blocked off, oldies were cranking from various locations, and there were even a few vendors selling crafts, jewelry and food.

No charge for parking or admission.  Located in and around Putnam's antique district there are restaurants, shopping and walking paths in the vicinity of the cruise.

I saw the General Lee but no sign of Bo or Luke...

The Edsel, an American Icon-okay, maybe not!

I thought this one was a beauty and the barbershop sign in the back is a nostalgic touch...

Oldie but goodie

This was one of my favorites because it appears (to this novice) to be in original condition...

The burnout pit.  What can I say but ‘loud and smoky.'  The smell of burning rubber traveled well over half a mile.

I had a great time but was a little disappointed that I did not see a single Hudson :(  Well, there is always next year.

Jennifer.. I hope it was a good turn out.  I personally don't enjoy car shows, but I hope others do.

Valerie-There were so many people all over, it was unreal.  We had a good time and the weather was perfect for it.

Jennifer - Sounds like to was a great event. I love the old car shows. It's amazing to me to see cars that were made before I was born and to see how they evolved over the years.

Tanya-It was one of the best and biggest car shows I've ever been to.

James-Thanks for your comments.  It is a neat looking car and I wonder if the doors really open or are the more authentic welded shut ones...

Jennifer,

I just bought one a Chevy Deluxe, that is the second one from the bottom in your pictures. I'm hoping to be in a parade and a car show by this time next year with it.

Every Thursday from Memorial Day to Labor Day, we have a classic car afternoon in downtown La Mesa, just a mile from me. It's a great way to spend an afternoon.
