Lincoln a/k/a Realtor Daddy.
I'm typing this with one hand and playing tug-of-war with my eleven month old daughter. Claire is the light of my life and center of my very limited attention span. She was born just in time for the Mortgage Crisis and as a result we have spent exactly zero on daycare. Now Claire is pulling all the paper out of my printer a sheet at a time. I've been in the biz 5 years now and this has been the most challenging but the most emotionally rewarding year (we'll see about financially).
So now Claire is laying across my lap napping and I'm able to use both hands. My wife works the second shift at Athens Regional Medical Center. So I pick Claire up in town and take her back to the office.
I don't advocate "take your daughter to work day" as a way of life for everyone, but in this down market, the flexibility of being a Realtor has saved me a fortune on day care. Though I wish Claire had more time with other toddlers, she does have a huge vocabulary for her age and she hasn't gotten tired of dismantling our office yet. So I don't think being around a bunch of agents has done irreparable harm...yet.
Lincoln - you can bring her in anytime, she's the most popular person in the office
What a Proud Daddy you are! Save all those daycare $$ and tuck away for College! Keep on letting Claire be the light of your life the rewards are priceless!
That is precious. I am the mother of five! It's the most rewarding thing in life!
Thanks for all the kind replys! I am reminded of the line from the Roger Ebert Classic Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls: "THIS IS MY PARTY AND IT FREAKS ME OUT!". The rapid fire response to my humble first post kind of blows my mind. OK now I sound more lik a hippi than a REALTOR. I know they are not mutally exclusive but the two identies conjure very different images... Hmmn. Anyway I'm not stoned but I am impressed at the response.
So in response to Michael Lewers: YE FREAKING GADS $500 a month for day care? That's half my mortgage payment. I service the Greater Athens Area from Oconee to Madison. Cheers.
Reminds me of when I was doing consulting work and trying to work on a spreadsheet with my baby on my lap, swatting at the keyboard like mommy! I miss those days!
