Hawaiian Island "Hopping" For Two Active Rain Members

Fellow Active Rain member and Hawaii mortgage broker extraordinaire (and VA Loan Expert), Jay Oku and I treated ourselves to some great golf recently. A 3rd buddy of ours was already on the big island for business and joined us for golf after his work was complete.

Jay and I both live on Oahu and caught flights to the big island of Hawaii to enjoy 2 days of golf at Waikoloa Beach Course and Waikoloa Kings Course.....18 on Friday and 36 more on Saturday. We stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club in Waikaloa which was a spectacular setup right on the golf course. Dinner was at Roy's (Chef Roy Yamaguchi) Waikoloa and the food was spectacular as it always is. Roy's has never disappointed us in the past and is one of Tonya and my favorite restaurants. Roy's also has 2 locations on Oahu and 2 on Maui.

The weather for golfing was perfect, scenery is always beautiful and the beer was cold. Both of the courses at Waikoloa are impeccably maintained. The tradewinds make you think about your club selection throughout the course.

So now we are all back on Oahu and back at work but here are a few pictures to share................

Jay still has the phone glued to his ear even on the golf course.

They didn't have any milk so we settled for ice cold beer.

This is the nicest hole on the Beach Course.....slight dogleg left with a green right on the ocean.

David- I have to say that I had the time of my life on that short power trip thanks to you! To have been able to close so many transactions with you over the past couple of years and to have played so many rounds of golf with you and for us to be able to provide our clients with great service and have fun outside of work is true work life balance. You work so diligently with your clients and produce such big numbers month after month and yet still make time to destress and have fun... I truley believe that is why our customers are so happy when they get the keys to their new home. They know that we are passionate about life.

Thank you for all of the business and for all of the good times!

I had a great time Jay and much needed time away from work. "Power Trip" is a perfect description. I am looking forward to our next trip to Poipu Bay on Kauai coming up pretty soon. Many happy clients, plenty of business and some great golf are on my radar screen. Nothing touches me more than the many happy clients we have made during our long lasting professional and personal relationship. Looking forward to playing at Hoakalei Country Club in November too!

Aloha Brad and I would really hope to get that call from you. Let me know when you will be here and we can either play the Klipper or anywhere else on Oahu. If you come after November we can make a trip out to the brand new, Ernie Els designed, resort country club in Ewa Beach called Hoakalei. I cant wait until it opens! There are so many courses to play here.... maybe Turtle Bay would work well too. How about an early morning tee time on the Palmer course then lunch at Le'le's (great food on at the golf course restaurant) and then another 18 on the Fazio course after lunch? Aloha back to you!

David - when I come over, I'll let you know for sure, but it sounds like you'd be wearing me out! lol~ I'd love to check out the Hoakalei course while I'm there for sure. I'll keep in touch and let you know when I'll be there.

If I can get Marsha at HAR to put on a "Social Media - Networking" training, it would help with trying to budget for the trip. Got the thinking cap on now and will start trying to put some things together.

Maybe we could put on an ActiveRain BarCamp for members there. I can fly over anytime if that were the case. I know Bob Stewart is also coming over there soon, maybe I can join him then.

I'll work something out and sure appreciate the time we may get together. Mahalo Nui loa my friend. :-)

Aloha Brad - That sounds great and would be a lot of fun. Sally Cheeseman and Randy Prothero set up a very nice AR get-together at Gordon Biersch here in Hawaii during the CRS Sell-A-Bration. We are due for another one.

Your ideas sound good now they just need to transform from ideas into airline tickets and hotel reservations!

Does Bob Stewart play golf too? I could hook up the tee times for whoever is interested in playing. Hoakalei Country Club will open in November so that would be a good choice. My wife and I are founding members of Hoakalei Country Club so you will be in for a nice treat if you make it out this way.

Bob's coming to the Big Island in September, so I guess I'm on my own.

No wait, I'll bring my wife for sure. I better start saving for that one. Looking forward to it David, I'll let you know for sure. I've pulled this post to my desktop to remind me.

That sounds like a plan if it materializes Brad. I am looking forward to it and I am sure that Jay Oku is also. I hope you like an enjoyable round of golf with no hurrying, plenty of trash talking and some good fun. We always like to go out off the first tee box in search of our lowest round ever and another hole in one but we rarely find that and instead just enjoy the day.
