Blogging! Ready, Set, And What's Next......

By
Real Estate Agent with LS Rogers Realty

GO!

No Wait.  Writer's block.  From an All Day long Chatty Cathy to.... Umm, Well, Errr.

Eagerly awaiting the "fuel" to shoot off like a rocket, but finding it to be a slow, more time consuming ordeal.

How can this be? At the end of a Typical Day, 5 blogs minimum, should flow effortlessly; And yet Nothing.

Maybe revising the allotted blogging time from late night to first thing in the morning will help.  That could work if the more creative juices would flow in the morning and a typical day wouldn't start before 6am.  Lunch time? What lunch?!

Lack of Inspiration? Absolutely not! The benefits of Blogging can be found in numerous Articles, Newsletters, and of course, Blogs. It's taken quite a while (4 years from the first remembrance) to get fired up enough to begin blogging but nevertheless, the inspiration is here.  So what's preventing it now?  Potential ridicule or critique from a lack of originality or eloquence? Not too sure. I'll get back to you on that.

One thing's for Sure, Everyone is Unique and full of Opinions and have the potential to Contribute SOMETHING to the Land of Blogging.

Blockage or Hesitation. Ready, Set, and Just GO ALREADY!

One of my writing professors always used to start class with a random question posted on the board, and we were given 15 minutes to furiously type out as much as possible on the subject. His overall lesson was that you can't write anything GOOD until you start writing ANYTHING. After your words are on paper you can start editing them into something decent, but you gotta get something out of your head first.

Something that helps me is Google Alerts.  You may well already be familiar with it, but if not, you might want to check it out.

Hi Trunda - Boy, we're riding the same horse on this point.  Being now to blogging myself, I have mind-warps and blogger road blocks.  I read a post from another member recently. (Sorry, I looked for the post just now and could not find it) but it said something to the effect of 'asking yourself what audience your blogging to. '  Are you blogging to the AR community for points and pleasure or are you posting to provide consumer information?   Separate the two and focus on who your blogging to. It helped me.  Happy blogging and I look forward to reading your AR blogs.

Karen:  You can also be blogging to the members of Active Rain to build a referral network.  By being yourself and sharing yourself in your blog posts... you allow people to get to know you.  Then... as you find people you click with... and create relationships... that network just builds and builds.

NEAL  Thanks for your support.

KAREN  lol. I hope it's just a newbie phase that passes soon.  I read something simillar but it suggested to blog for both; Developing AR allies & Creating a strong online presence. I tend to agree with that. Good luck to you as well.

Hi Trunda

Nice post. I am often 'blocked' too. Funny thing is once you get started, the juices start to flow too.  I also agree that there are so many resources and places to be the inspiration for one's blogs.  One can get ideas from reading, watching a movie or even a conversation. Sometimes, you just have to write.

HAZELHOFF  lol. The time and the thoughts coming together is the biggest challenge for me as well. With Ike threatening us with his presence, time won't be the issue this weekend. And I hope you're somewhere less threatening as well.

LOL. I can totally relate. Blogger's block really sucks! It's only in the last 2 weeks that I got over a LONG stretch of it! But when I'm stuck, I just write about local events, or I create charts from MLS statistics. They don't get a lot of comments, but they have a lot more Google juice! So blogger's block can actually be a good thing =)
