Once a sleepy little town with one stop light, this centrally located town became a City in 2000. Within 20 minutes at most, from Downtown Sacramento, and flanking Interstate 5 and Hwy 99 this new City has grown leaps and bounds. It is home to the Elk Grove Unified School District where teachers flock to work and where new schools have been built and continue to be built in record number.
Lot sizes vary within Elk Grove. Typically, the lot sizes are larger on the East side of Elk Grove where you will also find rural areas, as well. Builders have built an array of new homes in Elk Grove over the past few years since many Bay Area homeowners relocated to Elk Grove where they could find affordable housing with a bit of country. It is not uncommon to still hear the sounds of roosters crowing in the morn...still preserving the country feel.
When you click the tour button, it will take you through a small sample of quaint Old Town Elk Grove where older homes are located on either side of Elk Grove Blvd., the Elk Grove Brewery, Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce, the new City Hall and various other city offices, buildings and businesses. (there are two tours, be sure to pull the menu down once the tour opens to chose the next tour within this tour).
