Welcome to the first RAINY DAY in Surfside Beach, South Carolina of the entire summer! I actually chose to be in the office today rather than work at home where I knew I wouldn't accomplish a thing. Today I chose to plug away at a "catch up" day at the office. Sorting trough paperwork, attending to email files and folders and working on content for my new website that I hope will be finished soon. In going through my notes I came across the Active Rain "check out" note and decide to take a look. I got swept up in the format and started the profile. Not being one to talk about myself and my accomplishments I groaned but began to just tackle what I really feel. When I got to the testimonial page I groaned again and turned to my files and began to read some of the ones I have received since entering the field here in 2004. All of a sudden I was overwhelmed with knowing why I love this business and why I will probably never do anything else
For over 20 years I was licensed in New Hampshire and when we left I didn't think I would do it elsewhere. After a couple of years in Florida we settled hear where we already owned a condo at the beach and can't figure out how we ended up in Florida. For 2004 and 2005 I hit the ground running and then the market changed. Coming from an area where I knew everyone and 95% of my business was from referrals and past clients, I could no longer spend an hour or so at the post office to generate business. I didn't know anyone here, hence a whole new learning curve called PROSPECTING. UGH!!!!!!!!!!! Now it is finding ways to stay in touch with past clients and keep up with the changes in technology to SURVIVE. A total change for someone who has celebrated the infamous 39h birthday for two decades plus a couple of more years now.
So my RAINY DAY has produced several letters, a bunch of articles for my website ( name to be announced soon) and a new profile and BLOG on ACTIVE RAIN!
If anyone has great tips for web content, technology, prospecting etc,, they will be gratefully accepted for my next RAINY DAY ACTIVITY list. It will beat opting to stay home and "catch up" on the home chores!
