If Pret-a-Porter is not good enough for you, then read no further. I have my standards too, my fruit-of-the-looms must be fresh. But I don't have any hang ups about wearing a dead mans suit. Not when I'm paying $12.99 for a previously owned Britches of George Town suit. I have shopped at thrift stores my whole life. Even when I've had the luxury of shopping on Rodeo Drive, I've enjoyed treasure hunting at the Salvation Army just as much. I am a proud Thrift Store Shopper.
Our Local Good Will is awesome, just today I bought three Lands End button down shirts, and 2 pair of shoes (Florsheim and Bostonian), I think I paid around twenty bucks. Many times I find shirts that have been dry cleaned, starched and still have the cleaners claim tag stapled on. My frugality isn't limited to my wardrobe. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is where you would find Thoreau if he were alive today. They have everything you need to build and furnish a house.
If your looking for room in your budget, and you are concerned about your prestige factor being diminished by being a thrift store shopper; think of it this way, the manufacture of clothing, is terrible for the environment. The dyes are especially bad pollution. Reuse is better than recycle. So preowned clothing is the most environmentally friendly. There's got to be some prestige in that.

Hey Lincoln! You said it. There is prestige in saving. It would be great if we could teach our children that well made merchandise is valuable, you trade money for it. To extend that thought...time is valuable and we trade money for time. It sounds like you are thoughtful with your money which translates to being thoughtful with your time. Well done!
