Campaign to wipe out most school property taxes in Florida goes before a Judge

Today the campaign to wipe out most school property taxes in Florida will continue in front of a court room judge.

I personally think that this could be yet another solution to our tax problems in Florida but the Amendment 5 tax plan could be shot down before it ever gets to a vote.

The proposed amendment described by Gov. Charlie Crist as a backed plan is to eliminate more than $8 billion in yearly property taxes used to fund the state's public schools, which would cut the average Floridians property tax bill by a quarter. The amendment will most certainly be appealed.

I think the problem is that fact that this amendment might look good on paper but their are skeptics as well.

Neal I did not read the rest of the article and maybe the answer to my question is there, but how do they propose in substituting this tax with in order to come up with the school money?

George,

I'm pretty sure they are looking at just a straight budget cut...most of our schools are new so they might cut the budgets in other areas such as supplies. They also were talking about cutting fire and police as well....I'm so confused as to what the outcome will be and the benefits.

I am sure they will not that thing get anywhere.  The phrase 'Dead man walking' comes to mind.
