A few weeks ago I did a post about a missionary family to Myanmar trying to adopt a baby from Vietnam.
The costs associated with this adoption including airfares was somewhere around $17,000. Now where in the world is a missionary family going to get $17,000?
If you will remember, I told you to watch God work it all out and that is exactly what he did! I got this e-mail from Jonathan last night.
All right, who's been praying?
We wrote on Monday asking you to pray for the remaining expenses for the
adoption. Today we talked with both the adoption agency and several grant
foundations. Between gifts from friends and two grants we are now within
$20 of completing this adoption. I think I have $20 in my wallet right now.
Isn't God amazing in how he moves. Thank you so much for praying with us.
And thank you to everyone who has so generously given to help bring Jade
home. We are absolutely thrilled to finally be traveling to pick her up.
Please continue to pray for us over the next two weeks. We leave Friday at
10 PM and fly all day Saturday. We arrive at 11AM on Sunday the 17th.
Pray that we will all be able to sleep on the long flight over the Pacific,
this is always a trouble spot for us.
Pray that Adon handles the travel well.
Pray that we all adjust to the time difference as quickly as possible.
We travel out to the village to pick Jade up from the Orphanage on Monday
the 18th. We then proceed to the Ministry of Justice to sign the papers
making her officially ours. The next two weeks we will be working
diligently to get Jade's passport and a visa into the US. We have a few
'down days' in there while we wait for the paperwork so we are looking
forward to seeing friends, checking out the city and visiting old Favorites
from our last trip.
Pray that the travel to and from the village is uneventful.
Pray that the meetings with government officials go well.
Pray that the paperwork goes through smoothly so that we can return as
scheduled.
Pray for the four of us as we learn how to be a family, especially for Jade
and Adon as they adjust to being siblings.
We hope to begin our return journey on the 28th. Currently our tickets have
us landing at midnight on Thursday. We have some sweet friends who have
graciously offered to pick us up and transport us home, since we will be too
tired to drive by then. We have Labor Day Weekend to recoup, then Erin has
to start attending her class.
Pray that we can get Jade's plane ticket without any problems.
Pray that the return journey, with two children under 5, goes smoothly, and
that once again we could all sleep while over the Pacific.
Pray that we will adjust quickly to the time difference once we return.
Pray for Erin as she starts her Statistics class just after we return.
That is a lot to pray for, we know. But God tells us that when we pray, He
listens. Just look at what he has done so far. We appreciate all your
love, encouragement, support, joy, and excitement as we enter this final
stage of our journey. If we have a good internet connection we will send
pictures as soon as we can. We can't wait!!
The Wrights
I want to thank you all here in the "rain" for your prayers and concerns. Please continue to pray for this family. They are planning to return to Myanmar in late December.
We serve an awsome God!
