Every September the "Gentle Giants" come from all over the west to take part in the Draft Horse Classic at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley, California. The event runs for four days with the Draft Horses competing in events like vintage carriages, pulling, halter, etc. Everything from 2 horse hithes to the big 6 horse hitches are displayed. Visitors are welcome to come through the barns and talk to the participants and find out about the horses that they have brought.
Along with the show, there are vendors with a variety of horse and farm related products, a juried Western Art Exhibit, food booths and the local wineries and restaurants have tastings of local fare. It is no cost to enter the fairgrounds and view all the exhibits, but if you wish to watch one of the shows you should contact the Grass Valley Fairgrounds early to reserve your tickets.
