Obama at the Blowhole. Too funny.

By
Real Estate Agent with 1st Action Real Estate

Just had to pass this along for those of you who might need a chuckle. You probably noticed I haven't done any political posts the past couple weeks. That's because I've been on Kauai and Maui and so I've made a few posts to Traveling Rainers. For those of you unlucky enough to actually have real estate business to attend to - you can experience a virtual vacation through me. In fact if you want to take up a collection and send it over, I'll gladly stay another week or two and let you know how it is. Thanks.

Anyway, as you're no doubt aware, everyone's favorite Presidential Candidate, Barack Obama, has also been in Hawaii this week too - over on Oahu. Apparently he spent some of his growing up years there so he is somewhat of a returning son or some such drivel. He has been getting very brief mention on the Maui TV news station we've watched.

Today on the radio they did a quick report that he's going home either today or tomorrow but spent yesterday snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, which is a glorious shallow volcano crater offering some of the most spectacular and easiest snorkel views anywhere. He followed that up with a visit to the famous Blowhole at Halona, where he threw a lei into the ocean to honor his parents - (which ones he honors is actually unclear but it made a great photo op).

According to the radio report "Thereafter he stood on the rocks in silent contemplation of the Blowhole (brief pause) probably getting inspiration for his speech at next months convention."

I thought I was going to drive off the road. That's funny I don't care who you are. Aloha

I survived the road to Hana two summers ago.  It was rainy but still beautiful.  I'm glad my husband was driving, though.

We did the snorkeling in the bay your mentioned also.  It made me seasick!  I did see a couple of cool fish before I had to leave the water, though.

I agree.  I'd go back to Hawaii (or Scotland) in a heartbeat.  We were in the islands to celebrate my 50th birthday.  I told Frank (my driver/husband) that if I'd known turning 50 was so much fun, I would have done it years ago.

Enjoy the rest of your vacation, and best wishes for a great fall selling season upon your return

I can hardly wait.  No offense, but ask me if I really care?  As a business person in this current market, I cannot get excited about a person that says his first task is to raise taxes.  If he is elected, I will shut the doors on my business for good.  There would be no point pursuing a career in real estate with what he wants to tax us on.

A tourist a couple of years ago stood over the blow hole and got knocked in the air by a big wave and killed when he fell through the hole.  I was thinking they picked a strange spot to have Obama stand.  I wonder if he had any of Hilary's people guiding him.

I've heard those blowholes can be pretty dangerous. The biggest danger, however, is when they get elected. Then we all have to watch our step. Simon is right - you could substitute any politician's name in there and it would still be way funny. Randy may be right in thinking he may have some disgruntled ex-Hillary staffers helping out. After all, Hillary has not completely thrown in the towel yet, she's just biding her time until the convention. "Yeah - take him snorkeling, then over to the blowhole - if he makes it past that suggest a little shark diving. Can we get him on one of those crab fishing boats on the Bering Sea? That'd be a good photo op. "

Hana has a background symbolic of all that is wrong (right....far, far right....) with Amerika. Hana was the place where Samuel F. Pryor Jr. lived, on an 100 acre estate...(well, make that 95 acres, after he gave 5 acres to his "life long friend", Charles A. Lindbergh). Pryor and Lindbergh are buried in a small church cemetery there, only "yards apart". Pryor's father was president of Remington-UMC, the Bridgeport, CT. small arms and ammo maufacturing megalith which the bulk of the rifles used by "all sides" during WWI and in the years that followed. During the 1934 War Profiteering hearings led by Sen. Gerald Nye, Pryor Sr. was nicknamed a "Merchant of Death". He purchased Jupiter Island in Hobe Sound, FL, in 1930, and he and his daughter Pernelia Pryor Reed sold lots on the island to those who would "fit in". Approved purchasers were Prescott Bush, the Harrimans, Brown Bros. son-in-law, Robert Lovett, Dupont president Walter S. Carpenter, who negotiated the purchase of Remington-UMC by Dupont in 1934 and presided over Dupont's lead contractor role in the development of both the A-bomb and the H-bomb, as well as Dupont's continued business relations and communications with IG Farben, all the way till Jan., 1945. Paul Mellon and Edsel Ford bought homes on Jupiter, and the WWII OSS and it's successor, the CIA were designed and led by Jupiter Island men, and their attorneys, Bill Donovan, and the brothers, John Foster and Allen Dulles. Two recent presidents came from a Jupiter family, the Bushes. Quite of influence on US finance, defense, intelligence, and on the executive branch coming from a tiny island with a permanent population of 640 people.

Sam F. Pryor Jr. was a republican committeeman from Greenwich, CT, and was Wendell Willkie's 1940 eastern region campaign manager during Willkie's bid to unseat FDR. Pryor introduced Willkie to William Rhodes Davis, an American "oil man" who partnered with Hitler to build the Eurotank oil refinery in Hamburg, DE and supply it with expropriated, Mexican crude oil. Davis' oil supplied the Nazi navy and the Luftwaffe in 1939 and 1940. Asst. US Atty Gen. O. John Rogge documented the results of interrogations of Goering and Ribbentrop at Nuremberg in 1946. Rogge reported that Davis was Nazi Abwehr agent C-80, directed by Goering and supplied with funds from the Nazi regime's DC embassy to finance Willkie's 1940 campaign, with the knowledge of Willkie and Pryor. Davis paid for John L. Lewis's nationwide broadcast speech, endorsing Willkie on behalf of the CIO union council. British spy, Stephenson, aka "Intrepid", admitted in his 1976 memoirs to "removing" Davis in Mexico, on Aug. 1, 1941.

Charles Lindbergh, recipient of a medal from Hermann Goering in 1938, was a strong supporter of the accomplishments he surveyed in Nazi germany, and he was a promoter of and featured speaker of "America First" committee in 1940 and '41. The group was founded by Yale student Robert Douglas Stuart Jr., later chairman of Quaker Oats and later founder with "America First" president, Robert E. Wood, of the "American Security Council". Lindbergh's wife, Ann Morrow, in 1940 authored a book: (From a PBS web page...) "Her most controversial published work was her 1940 book "The Wave of the Future," in which she appeared to share her husband's favorable opinions regarding Nazi Germany. Speaking of the book in a 1973 television interview, Morrow Lindbergh admitted, "It was a mistake... It didn't help anybody... I didn't have the right to write it. I didn't know enough."

In 1972, Gore Vidal said, "We only have one political party in the U.S., and that is the property party, which essentially is corporate America, which has two right wings, one called Republican and one called Democrat. I can't say I like either of them."

There is a reason that Pryor Jr. and Lindbergh are buried "just yards apart" at Hana, a reason why tiny Jupiter Island's residents have had such outsized political influence, and why the military industrial complex has grown so huge and profitable for it's investors. Gore Vidal sums that reason up. People in the US financed the rise of the Nazis and "absorbed" what was left of the Reich at the end of the war. John McCloy pardoned Alfried Krupp and the other major Nazi industrialist, and Hitler's intelligence chief, Gehlen, founded the West German intelligence org. (paste "gehlen organization" into the google search)

My point is that there is no choice in US elections....one political party with two right wings....Obama is so close to McCain in most of his positions...."war on terror", central front in Afghanistan, an enemy of Israel is an enemy of the US.... "I will use pre-emptive force"....both candidates are to the right of Eisenhower in income tax, use of force, and policy towards Israel. The price we've paid to "fight communism" was the elimination of any left leaning policial force (contrast the US to the French...big government, near balanced trade, strong currency, yet more popular tourist destination than the US, model state provided healthcare, half the percentage of national poverty, five weeks paid vacation, $13.00/hr. min. wage., earlier retirement with more generous pensions, and job protections and low, low university tuition...)

We truly are a united, right of center country in our politics, accepting as normal the dual Bush presidencies and the fact that both Bush and Kerry were secret society members of Skull and Bones in 2004. We are too brainwashed to notice how far right we are, how little we've represented our own best interests in our voting. French GINI is 28, and in the US, it's 45. The bottom 50 percent in the US own just 2-1/2 percent of all the wealth and the top one percent own 33 percent. Realtors, as they grow poorer during this ongoing "bust", may begin to question where we are, how we got here, and where we are going. Right now, most are still not even curious. Jonah Goldberg and Amity Shlaes write bestselling books "informing" you that "the left" is fascist, when there is no "left", and George HW Bush's best friend is Will S. Farish III, a man raised by his grandfahter, Robert E. Wood, a man whose paternal grandfather, William S. Farish, plead "no contest" to 1942 federal accusations that his ESSO NJ partnered with IG Farben and supplied Farben with the tetra-ethyl lead additive that made aviation fuel octanes high enough to power the Luftwaffe in the 1940 battle of Britain.

Think !! Don't let American "politics" and religion distract you. You're in the "Adult Daycare" setting that they've designed for you, republican and democratic party leaders, and they've convinced you that they oppose each other, when they are complicit and enabling of each other. If you were a foreigner with the choice of emigrating to the US or to France, where would you pick to migrate to?

Hmmmm - that's quite the diatribe set off by my simple drive on the road to Hana. The way that road is it's a miracle more people aren't buried there. It is a beautiful part of our country and I seriously question whether Hana is 'symbolic' of all that's wrong with America.

In fact one of the true greatnesses of America is that we allow for diversity, we encourage it and reward it. Historically we have frequently backed the wrong horse, backed the right horse for the wrong reasons, changed horses mid-stream and/or had factions within our country that did not agree with it's general direction. This has been true in both world wars, Korea, VietNam, the Middle East, African Apartheid, you name it. Hasn't slowed our ascent to world power and will likely not slow our eventual descent from said pedestal as the wheels of history grind inexorably on through the next millenia.

However, to say we have on ly one political party in this country is just a little silly. Obviously you have never seen how legislation is fashioned in DC and have certainly never set foot in the Republic of California. Liberalism bordering on outright socialism is alive and well in this country and I think your placing us all in adult daycare is a simplistic observation devoid of recognition of substantive reality. Gore Vidal's observations notwithstanding, we have never been a single party country and it seems we grow more fractious all the time.

Finally, I would suggest that a simple examination of immigration statistics would give you the answer to your last question. Apparently most foreigners choose the US - certainly over France. Certainly more French emigrate to the US than US citizens to France. Your Francophile arguments are as suspect as proposing Hana as a symbol of all that's wrong with America. But I applaud your historical research. Very interesting, mostly factually accurate and entirely without any bearing on the current price of tea in China.

Mr. Wunderlich, in my "diatribe", I mentioned William Rhodes Davis, the American who was a Nazi Abwehr agent who funded Willkie's 1940 presidential campaign. This WR Davis was truly, "Hitler's man".

If there are truly two "rival political parties" operating in the US, how do you explain how and why republicans gave former California governor, Gray Davis, a "pass" when it came to publicizing the fact that Nazi agent William Rhodes Davis was Gray Davis' grandfather?

Do you believe Karl Rove's well developed RNC opposition research team simply was unaware of Gray Davis' grandfather, and allowed Arnold Schwarzenegger's Nazi family background to saturate news reporting, out of ignorance? Schwarzenegger, ironically, requested that the Wiesenthal Center investigate his family's Nazi ties, as far back as in 1990. Gray Davis was never challenged to account for his family background.....

Isn't it true that the average Frenchman has done a far better job of making his government provide an envious minimum standard of benefits and protections from threats to his health and economic security and to degradations of his leisuretime, retirement age and retirement security, and living standard, than American voters have? Isn't it true that despite this, the American currency and economy is the one with the immediate threats to it's continued sustainability, and not the French currency and economy? How, from a right of center point of view, could that even be possible? With French GINI at 28 and American Gini at 45, which system seems to face a more grave threat of political "blowback" catalyzed by concentration of wealth trend? If ownership of 70 percent of total US wealth by just ten percent of the US population, is "not a problem", what higher percentage would "be a problem?" From a right of center POV, shouldn't the things the average Frenchman have wrung from the political process in France, have caused France, to be "on it's ass", as far as it's balance of trade, popularity with foerign tourists, and by extension, the "hit" to the valuation of the French national currency caused by the way wealth is distributed in France? In fact, the opposite has happened....it is the US that is facing the future with an enormous annual percentage of national debt growth and trade deficit, despite a hollowed out, devalued currency....how could that be, from a right of center, perspective? Shouldn't the weakended US currency stimulate tourism and exports, shouldn't the lowest taxation levels in the post industrialized world, empower Americans to provide their own health, economic, and retirement security? It hasn't happened!

Mirela - you do get around - and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible. I love to travel and you have been to a lot of places I would love to visit. I'm waiting for the underwater photos I took at Molokni and Turtle Town off Maui to come back. Loved the sea turtles frolicking around and we followed two large rays for about 15 minutes - they were so graceful and languid in the movements it was unreal being so close. Don't know what kind they were - they had brownish backs with yellow spots and almost birdlike faces with very long whip-like tails. Beautiful creatures.

Troublemaker? Jeez - Simon mentioned the road to Hana and we get a historical dialiectic. I wasn't up for that level of discourse on vacation but I may jump into the fray now that I'm back.
