Neal- good public info Post....I don't understand how you guys can live with all the hurricanes every year.  Yes we have Earthquakes, and fires....so I guess it evens out.  I'm used to our natural disasters, so I guess you guys are too.

Kathy,

I've been here since 1999 and really it's more exciting then depressing. Although it could be dangerous I'm very well equipped and I have faith that our homes are built to with stand 150 mile an hour winds...in 2005 when we  had Wilma...that was bad...this hopefully will be a bit windy and mostly rain. You never know and although we never got a generator...we have other means to live such as gas...water and plenty of pool water!

We get a hurricane about every 20 years or so.  Normally they miss us.  I hope you folks miss this one.

Be safe everyone.

Even though I live in Michigan I have a very real fear and healthy respect for the forces of hurricanes.  (Children and grandbabies live in Biloxi and relocated here during Katrina.)

Please, heed the warnings and be safe.

Kris,

Yes I don't blame you...I already got used to it but that was more devastating...we seem to have a state that is well prepared in most areas but we did have supply problems in other parts.

Neal, school already? Holy cow! The kids here don't start until after Labor Day. August is part of summer and it seems odd to think that kids are in school then. My neighbors just moved to IL on Friday and their son starts tomorrow too. It must be a back east thing. Stay safe and hopefully it will miss you or be downgraded.

Hi All,

We start school early here. When I lived in NY we started after labor day. We also made it through major storms before but it's always better to be safe and prepare. Thanks and I'll keep you up to date on the weather tomorrow.

I'm not sure what is worse........hurricanes or tornados.  At least you have time to prepare.  Hope it misses you and you have a mild storm.

Funny because today was hot and sunny all day...the calm before the storm I guess.

Neal-  Friends of ours are moving to Florida, Tampa area.  The husband left today, with his daughter, so she could be there to start school..  They drove part way, then got on the auto train.  He couldn't get his internet connection to work, so he called us to take a look at the radar.  Looks like he's going to have an exciting welcome.

His wife is flying down, the end of the week.  We had a picture perfect day, today and she's now wondering if their decision to move to FL was the right one.  I guess it will look better when they're sunning themselves and we're knee deep, in snow.

Good Morning to all,

Thanks for the concern.

I just updated the photo above from the weather channel and you can see it live by click the link below. It's been raining heavy so far with thunder and lightning but nothing too bad that were not used to so I'll know more after 3 pm today.
