I'm currently working with clients that are in their 50's and in the process of getting married, selling their existing homes so they can start a wonderful new life together in their brand new home they are building. It is an exhausting and challenging time in their lives. Not only are they planning their wedding, trying to both work and keep up with their children and grandchildren....they are also working to prepare their homes for sale. Mr. Jones went first with his house that he has lived in for the last six years after his divorce. It was quite an undertaking going through all of his stuff and getting rid of alot of it, repairing, cleaning....lots of cleaning, and staging to get his house show ready. They were thrilled that his house sold in 40 days! Meanwhile.....I am working on Mrs. Jones(to be's) house. She is.....EXHAUSTED, overwhelmed, and the thought of going through the whole process AGAIN, well...she doesn't even want to think about it. I try to motivate her by getting her to talk about her new home that is under construction and how wonderful it will be when all of this is done and behind her.....but it is a challenge! Mrs. Jones(to be) has ALOT of her own stuff to sort through after living in her house for 12 years that she shared with her now deceased husband. She has her own repairs and updates to do as well as edit alot of furniture to get her house show ready. As their Stager....I have more challenges ahead because now that Mr. Jone's house is ready to close and we preceed into the MOVING phase....I must tell Mr. Jones that he needs to rent a storage space because none of his stuff can come over to Mrs. Jones (to be)'s house....she has enough already! This news, I'm sure, will add even more stress to the already overwhelmed couple. I wish that I could wave my magic Staging wand and make this process somewhat easier on them but there is no other way except charging foward and getting it done. I'm sure you have had similar clients like my Mr.& Mrs. Jones. Any advice, tips, or suggestions for them to help make the selling and moving process a little easier to endure?
