Realtor Tips: Being in Business for yourself!

First impressions are formost important in business.  Being in Real Estate, people come in contact with you everyday in every way.  When they do, an opinion is formed and the next time they see you might be concerning your next listing appointment.  Being aware of "first impressions" can help you build your career in the business.  Some things to help make a first impression are:

  • Professional Attire - the way you dress tells the customer a lot about the way you do business
  • Marketing Materials - correct spelling, and clean crisp photos are a major first impression to the customer
  • Your car - Keeping your automobile neat and clean shows consideration and organization, and paying attention to detail in our business is a must with our clients.

DON'T BE A SECRET AGENT!!

To help market yourself, make yourself visible to the public.  Display your name everywhere:

  • Your Real Estate company's license plate on your car
  • Put you websites and email on your business card in addition to your phone number
  • Wear your name badge everywhere
  • Sign magnets for your car door
  • Display your name on the signs at your listings
  • Create a personal brochure
  • Networking with peers
  • Get involved with the community
  • Sponser community activities like little league baseball, etc.
  • Establish a personal website linked to our company's website
  • Blog continually on interesting and informative topics for your customer base

Thanks for the checklist!

Often times, moderately-successful agents look at Real Estate as a JOB, not a BUSINESS.  Not good!  Businesses need to be advertised, jobs do not!

And you never know where that next lead is coming from - I don't wear a name badge anymore, but always wear a "DEAN'S TEAM CHICAGO" logo shirt every workday, with our slogan - "Changing Lives . . . Everyday!" prominent.  I get a question or two every week as to what I do, and what that means, and I explain it to them. 

Often times, an  inquiry call follows.
