Sweet Star -- Make Your Next Visit to Blue Ridge Even Sweeter!

sweet starWhen Sweet Star opened its doors last summer, shopping in beautiful downtown Blue Ridge became a much more stylish and sophisticated affair. The first floor of the boutique's delightful two-story space on West Main Street is filled with a mix of separates--tops, skirts, pants, dresses, sweaters and t-shirts-as well as a Beauty Apothecary, handbags, jewelry and Blue Ridge's only Spanx collection. The second floor is the Sale Loft, chock full of great deals.

Sweet Star owner Nichole Potzauf was born and raised in Miami, then spent several years in Los Angeles where she was a production manager for the Style Network. Her in-laws bought a house in Blue Ridge, and after visiting several times Nichole and her husband--tired of the L.A. rat race--decided to shift gears and relocated to Blue Ridge. Nichole knew that she eventually wanted to open a boutique in town, but was in no particular hurry as she was still doing freelance work for the Style Network. Fate intervened.  On her very first trip into town after moving to Blue Ridge, Nichole went to the Fannin County Courthouse to get her new Georgia tag.  She spotted a "For Sale" sign being placed on a building on the next block. Moments later, after a quick walk-through of the building, Nichole knew she had found her store location.  A few months of remodeling later, Sweet Star Boutique was open for business.

Nichole's vision for the boutique was to have a place where women of all ages-locals and visitors alike-sweet starcould find classically contemporary pieces, well-made, easy to mix-and-match, all at a reasonable price point.  As it says on their website, www.SweetStarBoutique.com:  "Sweet Star's owner, Nichole Potzauf is a firm believer that everyone can look fabulous, at any price. Clothes are wearable art and are the most direct form of self-expression. You can be comfortable, you can be stylish, and you don't have to be broke to do so!"

Sweet Star carries Kersh, a line of quality knitwear, and the store's best seller, as well as Kensie-colorful and slightly more edgy pieces, and Alternative Apparel t-shirts, a line similar to American Apparel. In the Beauty Apothecary, Sweet Star carries Kai (whose devotees include Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner and Usher) fragrances, lotions and dry oils. You will also find Mario Badescu's skin-care line and Me! Bath products-including Bath Ice Cream in a variety of great "flavors." Sweet Star runs a 15% off the "flavor of the month" special-August's is Strawberry-Kiwi.

While Sweet Star doesn't offer direct on-line shopping, drop Nichole an e-mail (SweetStarInc@gmail.com) or give her a call (706-946-6621) about any item or line she carries in the shop, and she will be more than happy to order it and have it shipped to your door.

Sweet Star, making Blue Ridge an even sweeter place to be!

Greetings from the North Georgia Mountains!

I couldn't agree more!  Thanks to Nichole and Sweet Star, us "mountain gals" can be just as stylish as any New Yorker!
