We are going to survive

HI Everyone!

I have one thing in my mind, and that is: WE ARE GOING TO SURVIVE THIS ECONOMY.

The Realtors who are still working, are the resilient ones who will stay come rain or shine.

So, hopefully the buyers and sellers out there will realize our value.

I would love to get thoughts on this one.

You are right...   Many will survive this.  Most of us a bit bloody and not the good credit rating we had.  Ego's are down (that's a good thing)  Wonder what the loss rate of licensees will really be in the next 12-18 months?  I know my market could use a few less in the business.  In talking with other brokers, most are paying for the privilege of being an owner.  The percentages are about the same regardless of the size of the company.  I've talked to some who have put in several hundred thousand dollars over the past 2-3 years and also those who have put in two or three million during the same period.

The only answer for brokers is consolidations.  We must get leaner, reduce expenses, increase the cash flow.  One way is to stop advertising in the local papers.  We did it in two of our markets over a year ago.  It's uncomfortable but statistics show print is about gone.  Did you see that the LA times stopped their real estate section?  Does that say something?

Wow, I did not know that LA Times had stopped their real estate section. I subscribe to OC Register, and they still have it going. But, you are right, I think one consolidated website would do the trick to attract the buyers.
