Searching For Foreclosed Homes Can Lead To Uncontrollable Laughter...

Lately, I've been showing a lot of Bank Owned/Foreclosed homes from Woodbridge to Manassas. It's always and interesting adventure. An act of discovery for both the buyer and the Agent.

This evening was no exception, the buyer and I saw some Stunning Homes in the $200,000 and under price range in Manassas and Woodbridge. These houses won't last through the upcoming weekend. Right now most decent Foreclosed Homes get multiple offers. It's been happening for the past 30 days in Prince William County.

However, tonight was a little different than most househuntint trips. As we are looking at the last house and dusk is setting in, we were  heading to the basement of a town home. The light is slowly disappearing, however I had my trusty camera that will light up a room in such situations.

As we headed down to the basement right in front of me on the floor was this huge BUG! I mean HUGE!!!! Well....I backed up so fast it would make your head spin. Actually, I screamed! And my client was half way up the stairs before I was, she saw it  when I did. There we both stood, just laughing in the kitchen, and my client says  "damn", I want to see the basement and and I'm thinking...no I don't do basements with scary bugs!

 I'm thinking the whole time...can't we just leave..."Oh my goodness, what is that?" 

Meanwhile my brain is saying  "I am not cut out for this anymore...there has to be a better way to make a living."LOL!

 

Then I said with confidence to my client, not to worry I'm not going to let a bug stand in the way of you seeing that basement. My camera will illuminate the room and I can get a good shot of it. She says "Ok as she's still shaking in the kitchen". So I head down the stairs, camera in hand , I grabbed the wall to hang on for balance as I leaned into the room to snap a flash photo and oh my GOD........

THERE IT WAS...IT WAS LARGER....AND ....

It was FAKE!!!! A TOY!! A JOKE!!!    

Someone who was last in the home has a very warped sense of humor...... 

Or they wanted to scare any potential buyers. Never a dull moment....I just had to share my day in Real Estate today.

Great one!

We went into a 360K foreclosed home that smelled like people urine. Hmmm we think that they may have used the walls and carpet instead of the toilet. Yuk, that smell has been in my nose all day.

Paul- I won't tell you what I screamed as I went down the stairs! However, I would have won $10,000 on America's Funniest Video if someone was watching.

Brian-If had been just me previewing, I never would have! However good houses are like a needle in a haystack someday.

Patty- isn't shocking  to see the condition of some of these abandoned homes. I can't wait until selling real estate goes back to normal. With well manicured homes, where sellers care about what they are presenting to the market and buyers fall in love with possibilites.

ps-I didn't sleep last night.LOL
