Good fundamentals start with a strong support structure!

Steel BridgeIn my previous post, Even the mightiest of the mighty can be brought down by the smallest thing. I talked about how important it was to not overlook the small details we encounter in business.

One of the best ways to do this, is to rely on a solid support structure of  dedicated professionals that can assist you with the day to day operations of your business. In the real estate business, these roles are filled by team members, office support staff, and vendors. It's up to you to determine where you need the most help, and to make the necessary assignments.

Delegation is the key to freeing yourself to do the things that YOU do best. If you hate paperwork, hire someone to take care of it while you show property or do any other productive task. In today's market, there are MANY agents that would be happy to make a few extra dollars by assisting you on a contract or piecework basis.

The point is, don't let business slip through the cracks as you allocate too much time to taking care of mundane tasks. Build your support structure and let other hard workers hold you up! It's a win-win for everyone!

I once agreed with this but it hasn't worked well for me.  I went through three assistants in one year.  I am too gun shy to let anyone take over my business.

Anthony...

Thanks for the comment!

Mel...

I;ll bet you just couldn't let go of control. The reason I know that is I am exactly the same way!

It can be really hard to relinquish control.  However, sometimes it is better for us in the long run.

There are a list of reasons- 1.  I couldn't give over control because they were incompetent.  2.  They wouldn't do the job as well as I could.  3.  They didn't care as much about my success as I do.  4.  ________________________________(fill in the blank because it is all the same).

Great Post.  There is nothing that will succeed time and a gain without a good foundation.  That foundation may be just a good plan, but it's what is needed!
