Fabulous Church Service, Fabulous Friends

My local friend

Today we had a fabulous church service at First Baptist of The Woodlands, TX. It was the "kick off" to our new year of activities so everyone wore the jersey or t-shirt from their favorite team. Of course, I wore my Tennessee Volunteers shirt! We were having our first service in our newly remodeled sanctuary and it is beautifully. But that is not what made it a great day for me.

The message was about friendship. The pastor said that basically there are 8 levels of friendship and one day I will probably list all 8 and post a blog about that.

But today, I am posting to tell you how blessed I am to have not one, but two, fabulous friends who would do anything for me. The first is Anne, pictured with me on the left. She is over 1000 miles away and we rarely see each other but our friendship is as true today as it ever was. In good times (like births of grandchildren) or bad (like illness) we are there for one another. I equate our friendship in one way to a soap opera. Even if I have missed weeks getting in touch with her, when we talk we can pick up where we left off.

My other friend is just around the corner from me. She totally accepts me for what I am, warts and all. I can call her and laugh or cry. I can show up on her doorstep any time of day. And she can come to me in the same way.

What a blessing! Two true friends in a lifetime. I wish for all of you a friend "closer than a brother". Thanks, Anne and Terri, for being you. I love you (warts and all)!
