Ok, my MeMe:
I am a licensed hairdressor (career #1) but I was doing HAIR, NOT having fun on the Carol Burnett show! I actually loved the Saturday night lineup so much I wouldn't go out on a date (unless it was someone really good:)
My father opened the very first hearing aid place on Long Island. Eventually I went to work for him and became a NYS Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser (career #2). I loved it in the old days when people were dragged in to get one and then they actually could HEAR....they had never realized what they were missing! And they finally figured out that many children weren't developmentally disabled, they had a hearing disorder....so many kids were misdiagnosed it was SAD.
I ran the business until long after my father died (1980) but sold it when my kids came home so I could have some time with them. My kids are both adopted from Colombia. It wasn't because I couldn't have a biological child, I always remember seeing all those children coming off the planes from the Vietnam war and kept wondering when my mother was going to help one. When I finally asked, she said no---I think it was the first time I realized there are alot of kids out there that need help.
They went and grew up on me!
When I went back to work, I ended up in the Medical Field. It was interesting, I was "up" on diseases, treatments and saw the ups and downs of the medical profession: in other words, the doctors that really CARED about their patients from the ones that didn't (AT ALL!). An Eye opener (and Career #3).
After a series of jobs (I love to LEARN but once I do learn it, it becomes boring to me :(, I ended up as an Administrator for the first Wholistic Health place on the Island. I'm not a Meta-physician like Sheron, but I worked with them every day. And saw patients that the doctors had written off actually HEAL. Body and Soul. I was amazed by it and I audited classes. And began to learn about "The Secret." And the power of Energy....(Career 4)
Feng Shui (What WAS that??) kept coming up all over the place. It turns out the very FIRST Certified course was being given in the United States and it was being given on Long Island. And I knew, just KNEW, I had to take it. Funny, because I didn't have the money or anyone to take care of the kids---but I made it. And found my passion in work, finally. It never gets old because there is always more to learn. And the "feedback" I get is worth the world to me. My clients don't realize they have created their own reality, they just needed a little help getting to do that!
I was re-blessed (is that a word?) at the Monastary last year by HHH Prof Grandmaster Lin Yun to celebrate my tenth year of becoming Certified in Feng Shui
Ok, now what do I have to do? Can I go now? Am I done? LOL
I Meme Dawn Grasty, Maria Borci, Dawn Cook
