I have just returned from taking sometime off and I have learned that the French actually get one thing right besides excellent restaurants. They know that taking time off makes you a more balanced person. In France their is a government mandated 5 weeks, Yes 5 weeks of vacation with many people getting up to 8 weeks with overtime being added to their vacation time.
The time I took off was well worth it. Did I do anything exciting no not really. I got my fill of the Olympics, caught up on some television shows, and read a few books. I just did what I wanted around my house and only answered my email once a week. Yes you can answer email once a week and still have a business.
My Conclusions is that the time off left me refreshed and renewed to take a the rest of the year. It also gave me some time to remove myself from my business to think about how I run it and the services that I offer. So take some time off, disconnect yourself from your email and your cell phone for a few days. You will not regret it.
