Agents without Fax Machine

Agents without Fax Machine

Something that I notice more and more are real estate agents without fax machines. Agents who do not have a fax machine? This day and age, a fax machine can be purchase for less than $50.00. If so why do agents not have one in their home office?

A property which has been on the market for some time should have property disclosure available. If not at the property then, ready for immediate delivery via Email or Fax. Many agents I find must go to their real estate office to send a copy. If it is after hours these agents want to wait until tomorrow. Most of my work is done from home. I have a fax/copy/printer type machine. I believe it cost less than $150.

If they don't want to buy the hardware they can at least get a virtual fax from somewhere like RingCentral. I agree in this day and age this is a technology you just can't do without.

Linda, yes there are options which are affordable. If you just starting out there are many expenses. One deal regardless of your commission split will at least break you even.

I agree every agent should have a home fax machine.  Everyone should also have efax capabilities.  Our company provides efax for only $7.50/month and I couldn't work without it!

I like to scan and email, as it transmits better, but certainly, I have a home fax.  I receive more than I send, but I think it is necessary.

 Efax is next!

Hey everyone.  We use ringcentral http://www.ringcentral.com/ for most of our phone and fax services.  Reason is because we work out of our homes, we have a local office and we travel so we are always in different places.  The nice thing about services such as ringcentral is anytime someone sends you a fax to your ringcentral number, you will receive it directly in your email.  You can also send faxes with the services.

Mike, I like and use efax for some time now. I also have the fax machine with a direct line. Although, I use this line for business as well. I am the same way, I am trying to scanner as much as possible.

Okay, here's a question.  If you use efax or a similar service, do you still get the goshawful degradation in quality of the document?  More than one faxing (instead of scanning and emailing) to a contract here and the chances of the lender (and maybe even the title company) getting a readable copy drop to slim to none.

Me, I think faxes are of the devil and SO last century and scanning rocks.  But that's me.  If efax doesn't cause the same abysmal quality, I might consider it.

Your right if you just re-fax and re-fax copy of your document quality will be lost. If you send a copy in PDF your are much better off. Stand alone scanner are more expensive than a stand alone fax machine. So what excuse will the people without fax's use now.

Standalone fax can only be used for fax.  A scanner can be used for many things (scanning photos, documents, etc.).  Or even better you can get a basic 3 in one (printer, fax, scanner) for around $100 bucks now.  If you use ringcentral and I think efax you don't have to scan a document first to fax.  You can simply upload your Word docs, images, PDF's and fax them.

Fax machine? How 90s! Why have a fax machine when you can scan and efax? What really bothers me is when an agent asks me to fax a disclosure which they could download from the MLS system to which I uploaded it when I listed the property -- they should have given it to their buyer before they called me with an offer!

To everyone an update. I just purchase a HP l7780 office jet. My K550 printer was great but died after a year and half of pushing it. The L7780 is an all in one. Print, fax, scan and copy. the cost was $399.00. Another feature which is helpful for the home office type is that it is wireless. We have 5 computer wireless connected. Also I have been with efax since 2005.

I would re-blog this post but for what ever reason I am unable to. Case in point another agent without a fax machine. If you don't have the tools how can you afford to be in this business. The buyers agent been in the business for many years. She is still running around town to drop off purchase agreements and the like. Get a scanner or fax and get with it. I don't want to drive with the cost of gas, how is it more efficient?
