Franklin North Carolinais a center of history, heritage and the mountain way of life. Franklin celebrated its 150th Anniversary during 2005 and continues to hold true to it's heritage while embracing the future. I have seen many changes here in 15 years. Franklin is growing fast, people found out about this hidden jewel of the mountains. We are are alson know to be the Gem Capital of the World and the locals call it Gods Country. Nestled in North Carolina's southern mountains, in the foothills of the Great Smokies, the area offers a change of pace and a never-ending supply of things to do. The little Tennessee River runs along the banks, (The Greenway) here offering ,walking, biking, canoeing, tubing, picnicing etc. We have Pickin on the Square Downtown all summer on Saturdays w/live music & clogging and more. Franklin is large enough to offer almost everything you need, yet small enough to offer the good quality of life. While the area is famous for is rural beauty, it is by no means isolated. Franklin is situated along major highways US 23/441 and US 64, with easy access to major interstates I-40, I-26 and I-85. Atlanta, Georgia is just 127 miles to the south, while Knoxville, Tennessee is only 110 miles to the north and Asheville, NC is 65 miles to the east. The reason I like living here is that I feel like all major attractions are all around me but far enough away from the city life hustle & bustle. I like to visit the cities around but I LOVE coming home. Whether you're looking for adventure, beautiful scenery or a week on the greens, the richness and diversity of our beautiful mountains provides for a multitude of wonderful activities.
