CHILDRENS LISTING AGREEMENT

Children Are Sellers In Smaller Packages

After moving several times with small children in tow I knew personally just how stressful it could be on them. Sometimes it seemed as if the move was a 'bigger' deal to them then it was to me and to me it was huge.

So when I decided to make real estate my career one of the first things I did was put together a Childrens Listing Agreement form.

I have used it at every listing appointment I go on where small ones are involved. The parents are so very receptive to it and the children love it as now they feel part of the process and so grown up.

Below is the wording I use but feel free to devise your own words that work for you

My Listing Agreement to Sell Our House at:

 __________________________________________________________

I know that my parents have asked Ms. Martha Brown of Long & Foster to help sell our house.

I know that Ms. Martha is going to work hard to find a family to buy our house, a family who will love our house as much as we do.

I also promise to help Ms. Martha and my family by doing the following:

_______Make my bed each morning

______Keep my room neat by putting things away when I am finished using them

______Helping to turn on lights when people come to visit our house

_____ Helping Mom & Dad keep our house neat and tidy

I understand that if my parents say I have abided by this agreement, I will receive a 210 Toys R Us or Best Buy Gift Card when we sell our house that I can spend anyway I choose.

Martha - I like the idea and it gives children an idea of what contracts are like for when they grow up in the future.

Martha, Very good idea and should keep a little stress out of the selling process. To many times I've had to wait for a couple of hours for the people to straighten up the place. I've had a few clients that were hit and run type people. I will definitely use this in the future and thanks for the blog.

Bob- Moving is a family affair when you have little ones so including them in the process just makes sense to me. Thanks for the comment.

Sharon- Actually I never thought of it that way but you are correct as it actually would foster those two traits as well. Once a teacher always a teacher :)

Martha, What a great idea to get the kids to feel like they are part of it.  And it may be a reminder to the parents to keep the home neat & tidy too.  Thanks Chris for the heaads up on a great post.

Hi Martha... I love this idea!  I can see this being very effective and love the "outside the box" thinking that you used to come up with it!

Martha,

How perceptive and caring of you to involve the kids.. makes them aware and trying to help to get the house sold so they can move.

My suggest button is broken.. I've worn it out today. :(
