Handwritten Notes - Light at the end of the tunnel!

Colleen Kulikowski's post earlier today reminded me about an item that has been on my "to do" list for way too long - and has now been moved to do by the end of this week.

Handwritten notes are being more and more talked about and written about aIllegibles a key differentiator when following up with contacts.  With all the smoke there must be some fire!  So how does a poor guy like me who has trouble reading his own writing get to take part in the handwritten note exercise?!

One solution is to use Notegram- however - that's sort of a hybrid because although handwritten it's delivered by email.

Another solution is vLetter which includes your own handwriting and signature as a font!  Surely I can write clearly enough on their templates so that they can construct a font that is legible!  Can't they?

This is the one marketing thing I will never give up or change - I write 10 personal notes every day - 5 days a week without fail - even when on vacation I send some.  I send them on a company card we have and write them with a shapie - I write big - and just a few quick lines - sometimes I include a photo of something of the area that will interest my client and so on.  My data base is 2500 strong and growing - as i put them into my data base I make notes about how I met them and what we had in common.

Tony, these are some cool ideas. I too use handwritten notes daily! I find that it adds the personal touch that people are looking for. It shows them that I'm not too busy to take time out for them. I'll have to check out the links you provided. Thanks for sharing!

I can't believe the impact it has on people - I also have to admit i tried the "computer handwritten note" and people were actually disappointed - If i'd never done anything it might have been a step forward but they were use to the personal touch and felt like "they were'nt as special" - i had to remind myself to focus on what the receiver wants - not what makes my life easier. i was just glad I had some good friends who shared with me so i didn't really create a note "faux pas" - just something to consider.

 Another thing I've found helpful is to have some general sentements that I can write when I find myself with extra time so it's easier to get them out when the time is right.

I've been very good about sending handwritten thank you cards or 'nice talking to you' cards, but using the sharpie idea sounds great!  Don't need to write as much!  And it'll probably save your hand some cramping as well.

I carry extra cards with me in my binder as well as my laptop bag to write cards at open houses.  I write them out, address them by hand, use my logo-printed return address labels, and a funky stamp to make the whole envelope stand out.  People love receiving non-legal-sized envelopes.

Tony and Suzanne I just did two open houses this week. Now I want to write a Thank you to the people in the subdivision for letting me hold an Open house. I want to make it short and sweet. Just don't know what to say. Any suggestions? Advice. Great post.
