I am Amazed! Random Acts of Kindness can Make you Millions...

By

WOW!  Incredible!  I am floored!

A few months ago I helped a foreign family settle here.  They needed the help; they were in a bad situation and I helped.   I didn't even think twice; it just needed to be done and I did it.

Within a few weeks they both had jobs, social security numbers and modes of transportation.  They were good, hard working people and it made me very happy to watch them succeed and get integrated here.

I just had the most amazing thing happen: a business proposition I simply can not refuse that will put my firm on the big map within the next 24 months... all as a direct result of my helping this family.  Unbelievable, but true!

Random acts of kindness credo:

•1.     If you can help, always do!  Walking away when you know you can help is a very bad thing for your karma.

•2.     No one needs to know about your kind deeds.  Don't boast about it and don't expect anything in return.  Just do it because it's the right thing to do.  Being good to another living soul will nurture your soul.  It's the best antidote for depression.

•3.     When you do the right thing, the right thing will come right back to you.  Call it serendipity, call it whatever, you are creating a lovely life for yourself, filled with joy, peace and contentment.

Since that's my credo, I never expected anything like this to happen, so I am absolutely floored.   Whew!  Wow!  Amazing!  I just had to share this with you!

Life's short...  Live well!  Perform random acts of kindness!

Bill:  Thank you very much!

These random acts of kindness feed the soul of both the giver, the receiver and the onlooker.  They are powerful "anti-oxidants" in today's polluted World...

Yes, its so true. Its great that someone allowed you to assist in the way did, often times many people look at gestures as "your out to one up them" or "they are going to owe you" rather than just being nice and thoughtful. Congrats and keep smiling.

Don't know about serendipity or the likelihood of a pay back, but I agree that we should help if we can.

Congratulations, cannot wait to hear more about the new business direction.

Mirela... when I search through my most cherished memories they all have a common denominator. Each one consisted of someone doing something extra-ordinary. I don't mean to imply that they were earth shattering or demonstrative. In many cases they would appear to be random... just another thing done in a busy day. People remember those who treated them kindly when they were in time of need. Sadly- many of us don't notice these opportunities. I'm so happy for you. I'm sure you never expected anything in return... but isn't it nice when goodness creates more goodness?

Cathy:  Thank you for the lovely comment!

Inspiring others is very important to me.  Sometimes spreading seeds in the wind actually works to garner us future crops.  The biggest joy I get in life is in inspiring people to live a better life.  Life is a privilege and as such, it needs to be savored...

David:  That is the only way, although I secretly harbor the hope that they pay it forward... (By the way, I loved that movie!)

Chuck:  As usual, your words illuminate the page!  I love the way you express yourself!

Mirela-Such an inspiring post, You are so right you never know what connections people have, and I bet this family will forever be greatful to you for you helping them achieve the American dream.

From my blog 3/9/08 -This is a wonderful country. This is a great place. Sometimes we don't see it. But I encourage people to look a little bit harder because if you look with your heart, if you look with hope, you will find a people and a country and a world worth living in.-Ron Kovik

Mirela... you have me at the seat of my pants.  What happened?  Can I ask that?

It's funny that I should come across this... I buy these little inspirational notes for my kids to open up each day during lunch to let them know how much I love them and to encourage them throughout the day.  You write your own personal note on the outside and tear open the inside to see what the message of the day is.  my son's  read "The best thing to chase away the blues, is to make someone else happy".

HiMirela, What you say is so true. I believe that what comes around goes around and if you treat people with love, kindness and respect, then people will treat you the same way.  You get by giving and the more generous you are, the more that you reap the rewards.

By the way, I am proud to have joined you in the 100,000+ Points Club as of yesterday!  Please take a look at my blog.  I also posted a blog from my vacation on Myrtle Beach that you might be interested in.

Good Morning Mirela:

I'm relatively new to Active Rain, and have been stumbling around checking it out.  I think AR is a great site, since it provides interaction, information, inspiration, and publicity: your story gave the inspiration part.  I believe, like the person said above, in paying it forward (agentspayingforward.com).  My belief is based on the fact that I am selfish: when I pay it forward I feel awesome.  The byproduct is I helped the other person (s) too!

One of my biggest challenges is to remain grateful even when the challenges appear.  In a week where I had a kidney stone, boat damage (I co-own a wakeboarding school - launchwakeboarding.com), and two bicycle accidents, I still was able to recognize that "this will pass".  Stories like yours help reinforce that.  Good luck with the new venture.
