Is Your Active Rain Blog Attracting the Public?

By
Real Estate Agent with McCall Realty

We're new to Active Rain and are trying to get up to speed as best as we can. We've got our own blog here in Lake Tahoe, which is also new. (check it out)  This blog's focus is to provide the public with consistent fact-based information about their real estate market. When we are writing posts to it, our mindset is we're writing to them, which is a somewhat different mindset if one is writing primarily to fellow real estate professionals.

Since the Active Rain network is new to us, we're wondering if you are getting a lot of public traffic from your work?  When you are writing your posts, are you writing to pros, or are you consciously attracting new business? Or both?

We'd appreciate some feedback, as that will hone what we're doing here so that we can best contribute to your network community.

Cheers, Gary Bolen

Hello!  When I post to localism I include listings, current events in my city, at times critiques - just about anything that deals with my island.  I think just getting your face out there for locals to see is attracting new business.

Hi Gary-

My writing has evolved a lot since I started writing back at the end of September. I write a mix of anecdotal real estate information and market information, and I'm getting a fairly regular stream of inquiries from folks who are reading the blog.  The best advice I can give is to make sure that your writing has lots of keywords involved. And if you want the lowdown on how to make blogging powerful, look up Mary McKnight in the profiles and read every word she's written.

Hey Gary! I try to maintain a balance in my articles. I write some for my fellow professionals, and others specifically geared for consumers. You can catergorize your posts to as narrow of a focused audience you want. Such is the beauty of ActiveRain and Localism.com!

I've been writing to both public and members of AR.  However, both are visual in SE stats.  If I have a listing or a "brag" about my community, I send it off to the public, and if I need information or have a question or something to offer the AR community, then I post to Members only.

Hi Gary,

Active Rainers make the blogs "private" if you only want to address peer to peer. If you want to let consumers see your postings, you would dictate it as "Public" Many of us have had much success with writing blogs to both peers and consumers. I would recommend both. You will notice that your blogs will pop up in the search engines off of AR as well, which is great!

Per your requst, I added your blog to the California Real Estate Blog for South Lake Tahoe.

Please contact me when you get a chance  :)

Thanks,

Scott
