Folks relocating to Carlsbad from other areas most likely will visit at least once, if not more than once, for a house hunting trip in their search for a new home.

And if you are flying in for your house hunting trip, read about the San Diego airport which is your gateway to your house hunting.
Unless you have family here you will need a hotel to stay in while house hunting. So here's a list of some possibilities with a range of budgets.
And of course visitors to our paradise might be interested in knowing some of the places to stay here.
You really have two choices if a high end hotel is what you are seeking: the Four Seasons Aviara Resort in South Carlsbad, and the La Costa Resort and Spa about 1 mile east of the Four Seasons. Both offer a wide range of rooms and suites, great views (some of the Four Seasons Rooms have distant lagoon and ocean views), a fabulous spa and health club, several restaurants and boutique shopping. The Four Seasons is, well, the best, with the sort of service that makes you feel truly pampered and special.
Both offer golf as well. The Four Seasons has residences that can be rented, and the Villas at La Costa (1 and 2 bedroom suites) can also be enjoyed instead of the typical rooms.
If you are interested in the La Costa area (92009) the La Costa Resort is right in the heart of this area and a good location to gain a feel for the community. The Four Seasons anchors the Aviara residential area and hints at the lifestyle you will find in this community.
The Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort is located at water's edge at the south side of Carlsbad Village. Just past Carlsbad Village Drive and between the Coast Highway and the ocean, the resort. Not only do you have the ocean and sand a few steps from your door, but you can walk the entire Carlsbad Village easily to enjoy shopping and restaurants. The resort offers hotel rooms for 2 - 4 people and condominiums with 1 and 2 bedrooms.
The Tamarack Beach Resort is located along the coastal road just south of Carlsbad Village. Glorious views await, and you can walk across the street and down the steps an be on the sand in about 2 minutes. Dini's Bistro is their signature restaurant; the bar area is lively at happy hour as folks gather to enjoy the sunsets across the street.
Chain hotels include the Sheraton (at Grand Pacific Drive just off Palomar Airport Road a few miles south of the village) and the Hilton Garden Inn (on Route 101 south of the Village). A popular hotel just a short walk from the famed Carlsbad Premium Outlet Mall is the Holiday Inn (by the Windmill). A popular suites hotel is the West Inn and Suites - it has a good reputation but know that it is located very near the freeway so there is some noise.
A more intimate visit awaits at the Pelican Cove Bed and Breakfast, just a short walk from the village (3 blocks south) and just 2 blocks from the ocean. A full breakfast is provided, and you can enjoy the nearby shopping, beaches, and restaurants in between searching for that perfect house.
This is just a sampling of the hotels that await you while house hunting OR enjoying a vacation.
Depending on your budget and the amenities you desire (are you making your house hunting trip a bit of a vacation, too?) there are lots of ways to enjoy the Carlsbad lifestyle while you search for your new home.
