Hi Everyone. I am new to AR and have been a Realtor for 8 years. Our Team moved to Keller Williams a little over a year ago, as KW came to Bakersfield. We actually sought them out when we heard they were coming as we have heard such good things over the years from KW folks that we have met at different events.
Since I am new to AR I hope this post is not out of line. I tried to read several of other posts to make sure, but because of my DI behavior/personality style, I just quickly skimmed.
I am especially excited about the fact that KW uses DISC. Both my wife and I have been using DISC in our Real Estate lives for some time now. We both have received some training in DISC, and use it every day. I take DISC so seriously that I created a unique Real Estate Class applying DISC and have taught it several times. I have also became a Certified DISC Trainer as I have been considering "Taking the show on the Road" by teaching my class in other market centers. This fall/winter I am planning on taking the "Train the Trainer" classes to become KW certified, but in the mean time I am still able to teach the class at the market center level.
My class is structured to teach agents how to identify their own behavior/personality styles , to understand the other styles, identify those styles, and communicate with those who fall into each DISC group. It is designed with the fact that we, as Realtors, are part of the most fascinating business there is. While we may compete with other Realtors to get a listing, once we secure the listing we become a Team-mate of the other Realtor who brought you the offer for example. How do I speak to them? What is their behavior trait(s)? How can we work together best?
The class addresses three of a Realtors levels of communications:
1. Learning your own style
2. Identifying and working with clients in each of the four DISC styles
3. Working with your fellow agents and teammates.
I even cover which style makes the best Real Estate assistant. It is one of the most enjoyable classes you ever take. I think we laugh more in this class than any other class I have ever been in. I have had people tell me afterward that it was a life changing event.
My wife is a high S and so if we have a client who needs support and hugs, she takes the lead, if someone wants to cut to the bottom line, I take the lead for example.
Now that I am a certified trainer, I can sell the online assessment that takes only about 10 minutes to complete, and you get a 29 page report back within a few minutes that explains your style, your best environment, how best to communicate with others based on your style, and how people should communicate with you. It is amazing how right on it has been. Since KW believes in DISC I have a reduced price for the online assessment for KW folks.
Again, I am a fellow Realtor, at Keller Williams. Our Team has been in the top of sales volume for quite a few years in our area, and I know that a lot of our success is from knowing DISC. Any thoughts from anyone are appreciated.
