IMAGINE--A Manhattan Feng Shui Consultant in Central Park--See Strawberry Fields

By
Home Stager with Feng Shui Manhattan Long Island #888

Some people had tears rolling down their eyes....even now, almost 30 years later.  From some of my previous posts you may know that this Manhattan Feng Shui Consultant LOVES Central Park; Back to Nature--Central Park in New York City! by Feng Shui Long Island
and although I've been to Strawberry Fields before I don't spend much time there.  It is still very sad for me too, even now

But my friend   Fernando Rosado ASP, president IAHSP PBC 561-906-0050 or 561-840-8950 : Fernando's Home Staging Blog   requested some photos (how did he know I had just visited there?).  Feng Shui Consultant Laura Cerrano and I went to Central Park in New York City less then two weeks ago for a last beautiful summer walk through the Park. It  was a beautiful weekday and Central Park, as usual was crowded.  We did NOT know, until later on, that Central Park was celebrating it's 150th Birthday!

This post, though, is just about a very special part of the Park.  It is about Strawberry Fields and John Lennon who came to New York City and fell in love.  He had to fight to stay here and many felt he was a threat because he protested the war with his "Love Ins" with Yoko Ono.  He persisted and he stayed though he never distanced himself from the people that were his fans.  He spent a lot of time in Central Park, lived in The Dakota and was happy to stay home and raise his son.

I often try to IMAGINE what beautiful music he would still be creating and singing today.  On this very special day in Strawberry Field, there was a man taking care of the IMAGINE mosaic.  Of course you re not allowed to step on it and if people got too close, he would let them know.  He was so protective of it and when the rose petals moved, he would carefully put them back.  It was a beautiful day in Central Park New York to just IMAGINE:

Carole, I love this post.  Your photos are great. I can remember John Lennon being shot like it was yesterday.  Such a tragedy for the world to lose such a artist.

I had no idea that even existed! Does that man replace the flowers every day? What happens in the Winter?

Carole:  I guess I live under a rock at times.  I did not know there was such a place called Strawberry Fields in Central Park.  This may be dumb but does someone put fresh rose petals on the Imagine plaque each day?  I always learn something new from you.  Great pictures.

I still remember the day he was shot.  It was a shock to us all back then.  Thanks for the pics and a reminder to cherish what we are given as it can be taken from us too soon.  Imagine all the people living for today. Great tour Carole.

Hey Carole!

I am ashamed to say that I have only seen Strawberry Fields from a distance and never took the time to actually see it 'up close and personal' the way that you did!  Do they put fresh flowers down all Summer?  It's amazing how precisely they are placed too!

That was really interesting, Carole! I've never been to Central Park...believe it or not. Your pictures and post gave me my first look, and it was fascinating. Thank you for sharing with such heart...as always. GBU!

Hi Carole, what an inspiring tribute to one of the greatest... I still get a gulp in my throat & chills in my body when I read about John Lennon or see these pics... I'll never forget the moment I heard the news, when the spirit of peace was shattered in the soul of the earth... I've never been to Central Park, but I have it on my list of things to definitely do, especially after reading this post. Thank you!

Audrey, I was so sad in there, I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing.  Every year at this spot in December they hold a beautiful candlelight service and people come from everywhere for it.

Joan, I have been there several times, the flowers are only there on special occasions.  Here they were celebrating the fact that Central Park was 150 years old.

Liz, I love New York...(I know, I sound like a commercial).  It is a fabulous city and always wonderful things to do and see here.

Gary, It's a very special and very quiet part of the park....you are asked by signs to be quiet in the area to respect the wildlife.

Carol, If it's been 25 years, you're going to find a whole new City!!  In the 70's and early 80's there were so many places you had to stay away from--it's not like that anymore!!

Donna, It seems a few people didn't know about it.  Yoko Ono "bought" a part of Central Park to use as a memorial---and it can be seen from The Dakota where John Lennon lived and she still has an apartment there.

Paddy, I think there are many of us that will never forget that.  John Lennon made himself accessible to the public and always stopped to talk and sign autographs.  In retrospect, it made him easy to get to which is very sad.

Val, It is sombering to stand right there with others, everyone is sad.  The flowers were there because the park was celebrating it's 150 year old birthday--we chose a perfect time to go.

Elizabeth, I am SO glad you're back and knew you were busy but home safely.  And still waiting for part three.  I can SO understand your frustration having adopted two children from Colombia where their favorite saying is Manyana ( I have no idea if I spelled that right!).  GBU & Your Family

Mara, I think you would LOVE Central Park....it's a very special place with some very quiet and peaceful spaces to such beautiful nature--to some of the wildest people I have EVER seen!  I always love it there!

Eloise, It's a beautiful spot in the park, Strawberry Fields.  Yoko Ono sponsors this part of Central Park to create the Memorial for John Lennon and can be seen from the apartment she still owns in the Dakota Building.  People are full of respect in this area.

I love that song - and all Beatles tunes - Jeff took me to see the Cirque de soliel show Love a few years back for our anniversary - It's wonderful that John's desire for peace is shared by many & continues to live on in others as witnessed by the abundance of fresh flowers placed at this memorial the day you visited Carole - thanks for sharing the photos - brings back memories:)

Sincerely,

Grace

Carole,
One of these days I'm coming to visit and I hope you'll show me around to all of these places in Central Park...
I do remember the building from Rosemary's Baby and didn't realize it was John Lennon's home.

Beautiful mosaic!

Grace, I wanted so much to see that show but I don't believe it came to New York...I know it was in Vegas--I had seen the Larry King Show about it and would have loved it.  I think sometimes that people either love New York or hate it---I've heard both.  This is a very special part of Central Park for a very special person.

Jo, It's very distinctive and I believe (though I'm not sure) that it had the same architects as The Plaza.....it certainly looks like it, very ornate and stately.  Of course I will take you everywhere, bring many sneakers!!

Carole AWEE ! Thank you for posting this for me! Deja vous! I spend so many lunch breaks right here! It just brings back all my great memories when I lived in the City. I worked a block away from the strawberry fields. Thanks Carole for the memories!

Fernando, All you had to do was ask :)  It was such a nice time to be in the Park, they were celebrating their 150th year of being open.  I know you worked at Tavern on the Green...and snapped a few pics of that as well.
