When Less is More

One of the biggest struggles I face in my marketing efforts is staying away from the things that can distract me from my marketing plan, and with the rapid advancement of the online tools available to us, it's especially easy to chase rabbits when tweaking my online presence.

We all want the latest greatest tools, but we have to be careful not to overwhelm the people we work so hard to attract to our sites.  Sometimes adding more can simply detract from the quality of your website.  This morning I read a great RISmedia article about how to attract people to your website, and it basically hits on the same point I posted about yesterday, STAYING FOCUSED.

It can be tough, but keeping things simple, and keeping your end goal in mind is CRITICAL to both driving traffic to your website, and converting that traffic into clients.  IMO, being very selective about which rabbits to chase will bring better results in the end.

Good information Ryan. I really do agree with you that sometimes less is more. Sometimes those we look to attract are very confused by all the information and distractions we throw at them. Great post

Thanks for sharing your thoughts -- wise idea to remain focused, and not be running out after everything, willy/nilly.     Confusion never wins!

Ryan - I agree.  It's so easy to get distracted and "chase rabbits", as you call it.  Thanks for sharing!  :)

Thank you, thank you.  Simple minded folk like I find life a lot easier and business better if we can stay focused to using whet the ocnsumer is using and not what our competition is using

I think we also need to remember not to overwhelm ourselves. Rather than having a miniscule presence on everything that's out there -- Active Rain, Localism, Twitter, Linked In, Merchant Circle, MySpace, Facebook, and on and on and on ad nauseum -- pick two or three, learn how they work, and then work them for all they are worth. Throughout my 43 years in business, I've found that it's better to be a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond.

Hey Ryan.  I like your post.  I agree  it is difficult to stay focused.  There are so many social networks to keep up with... for exampler.
