home inspection clayton nc - new house with wet crawl space

Home Inspector with Clear Choice Home Inspections, Inc

Clear Choice Home Inspections completed a Clayton NC home inspection on a house that was only six months old. The highlight? Wet framing / wood in the crawl space all around the rear deck. This was really a shame on a moderately expensive house (about $300K) that was so new. This photo does not show the full extent of what we uncovered during our Clayton NC home inspection but gives you an idea. Given enough time, the framing members will rot and the owner would have to fork out thousands to repair. Now, the builder will fix it since the home in Clayton NC is still under the builder warranty. For more info on our inspection process, visit our site

Great catch- This way the homeowner can have it fixed at no expense to them.

Once fixe, a vapor barrier would be of benefit!

All the best.

Keep on blogging.

I like the fact you use photographs during an inspection. A photo is worth a thousand words - it also makes negotiations on any requested repairs so much easier to understand what it is the buyer is requesting be done. It looks like a really clean crawl space - I don't see any cobwebs!

Thanks. The crawl was very clean (love those). Spiders have not had time to make many webs it was so new.
