Top Producer, Anyone?

By
Real Estate Sales Representative with Keller Williams Realty

After a year using Top Producer, I fail to see the benefits. I have used it for database management, lead generation and prospecting, and managing buyer/seller transactions. As the year has progressed, I have found it easier and faster to manage transactions and prospecting manually. It has been useful for lead generation and database management, but TP8i has made that less useful. Furthermore, I dislike having to be online to use, and constantly having to re-log on. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I would love to hear the experiences of people who have felt the same and discontinued using it.

I stopped using it some time ago. It just didn't fit with my business model

I use TP just as a database -- the new version 8i, does not require an applet to run, and can run on any browser, any computer.  So I can access it from anywhere.   But for transaction management ..... nah.

Marcy, just keep on doing the old fashioned prospecting that was created many years before our time. It worked then and it will work now. Thanks, Keith

Marcy,

If you are looking for something else the manages your business and helps you prospect you may wish to consider Respond which is our ad-in to Microsoft Outlook. There is no monthly fee and it works on your computer so no logging in. You can import your TP data. Features such as the calling manager and the campaigns should help you in terms of past customers, current transactions and your future pipeline. We have a 30 day money back guarantee as well. Check it out at www.seminarsandsystems.com/demo . If you decide it is for you call me for any current specials.

I absolutely love it and have watched my business triple over the past 2 years.  Recently, I added the Market Builder, Market Snapshot programs and have had terrific success.  That, combined with the new Just Listed/Sold postcard program I receive 2-3 new leads every week that I can automatically follow up with.  I just can't say enough good things about it!

Also, I started imbedding the Market Snapshot Widget links in my website postings; for example, I'll post an open house on CraigsList and imbed a link to the Market Snapshot for people to request one along with a Community Report.

Of course, each shoe will fit each foot a little differently but I swear by this program.

Marcy:

If you are an Outlook user, you may wish to try EurekaWare. Eurekaware is designed to be easy and cost effective alternative to Top Producer (It's one time fee is roughly equivalent to 2 months of TP payments).  EurekaWare is built into Outlook so it automatically tracks everythign you do in Outlook. And it has very easy features for managing buying and selling needs. You can also create campaigns and action plans.  Also you do not need to have access to the internet to use it!

Marcy,

First, thank you for the comment left on my blog!  It was a nice welcome to ActiveRain.  So far, I have really enjoyed the web site.

2nd, I feel you pain.  I have used 7i and was somewhat impressed with available features but for the most part, was not able to use the templates and transaction manager in an efficient manner.

Since they have required the 8i upgrade, I have only used it a couple times.  It seems extremely slow and not very user friendly.  I thought it was just me, but it sounds like others in my office share the opinion.  I need to take the time to call and cancel...

I wish you the best of luck and will keep you in mind if I come across any other contact mangers that are worth their wait in gold!

Sincerely,

Thomas Gooch

I still use 7i and refuse to convert to using 8i. I paid for 3 years in the beginning, but I won't resign.

I use the Market Snapshot feature in Top Marketer from Top Producer.  That I like!! Top Producer8i came with the bundle and I see no benifit to the software from what I'm already using.  Besides, Outlook will do basically most of it.  I like my flier templates I made in Microsoft Publisher.

Thanks for the comment on my blog.

I am sorry to disagree with you but I love TP I hate learning new things and 8i has eluded me at the moment but I haven't really tried either.  I have used it for 5 years and love it as a transaction manager and I love the new market snapshot.  Wouldn't do it without TP!

I am an 8i customer, I use Market Snapshot, have top connector, but do not have market builder.  I understand how Market Snapshot can be an invaluable tool, but I am trying to figure out how to make it effective for me.  I am wondering if "Market Builder" is the missing piece.  Any opinions??

We are going to stop using top producer. We don't like having to be online to use it either. It is hard to get your information to print and really it is just cumbersome to use.

I love Top Producer.  It takes a while to get used to as part of your everyday life.  It is really helping to keep me organized.  It is very satifying to see my database grow and be able to classify, measure, monitor, adjust and control the growth by category.  They also have great training.  Knowledge is power!

I am unhappy with Top Producer as well. It runs very slow, and is unintuitive and not user friendly. I constantly have to log in, or re-download something. I spend more time trying to make it work right, and I have also found, I like making my own presentations, I can do them much faster than I can in 8i and they look much better, not cookie cutter. Feeling silly I thought I needed this... and I have 6 months left on a contract that costs me about $100 monthly. Buyer Beware! I am willing to give keep trying for the next 6 months, but after that, if I still feel like I just bought "snake oil"....ADIOS!

We bounce back and forth between Top Producer 7i and Top Producer 8i.  There are some things that don't work in 8i that we use in 7i ... like save searches are not working in 8i ... and you cant apply multiple action plans yet in 8i.  See we (myself and my team) use 7i for somethings and 8i for other things.

I'd like to hear from anyone using Market Snapshot.  Top Producer is really pushing this product hard.  Everything I call them for something, they're asking me if I want to add it to my account.  When it first came out there was a limitation of 150 users on it.  They're saying they've removed the limitation.  Top Producer want tell me who's using it.  So, if there's someone out there working with it and has comments good or bad (especially bad) I'd like to hear about them.

Otherwise, I couldn't live without Top Producer.  We've got 19,000-plus contacts in the database (10 years worth of real estate contacts) that we market to between clients, customers, prospects, realtors, allied resources, etc.
