Ridgefield, established in 1709, is the quintessential "hometown" with its charming Main Street, playing firelds, hiking trails, ponds and streams.  Located approximately 55 miles northeast of New York City, Ridgefield is prized for its preservation effots, which have resulted in a charming town peppered with a generous sampling of vintage homes and enhanced by a rich social and cultural climate.                                                                 

In 1777 Ridgefield was the site of the "Battle of Ridgefield" the sole land battle on Connecticut soil during the Revolutionary War.  In that battle, American Generals Wooster and Arnold (before he turned to the British) attempted to defend the town from the British Army.  Periodically, residents have reenacted this battle to the delight of all.

Newcomers are often surprised to learn that a town with a population of approximately 24,000 supports a symphony orchestra, a museum of contemporary art, a stat-or-the-art public library, a playhouse with live entertainment and numerous activities for residents of all ages.  In addition, the new recreation and senior centers are the destination of choisefor those in search of fiteness and socializing.
