Ridgefield, established in 1709, is the quintessential "hometown" with its charming Main Street, playing firelds, hiking trails, ponds and streams. In 1777 Ridgefield was the site of the "Battle of Ridgefield" the sole land battle on Connecticut soil during the Revolutionary War. In that battle, American Generals Wooster and Arnold (before he turned to the British) attempted to defend the town from the British Army. Periodically, residents have reenacted this battle to the delight of all.
