Twilight ~ Masterpiece to Movie

For me, it happens every time. I fall in love with a story. My mind so vivid that, reading the book, I see the characters faces, expressions. Smell the air, see the places they live. Hear their voices. A movie played out in my mind. Perfect.

Then.... the rights are sold. The movie created. Never the same. Never as good as it was in my mind. It's true, I long to watch it played out on screen. But I am always so disappointed. Do these directors READ the book first? Or do they jump blindly into a script without ever falling in love with the story?

It is happening again. To my most recent love... The Twilight Series. I wrote a blog, Twilight Saga, explaining my experience and full depth of my love for this story.  All while reading I thought, they have to make this a movie! Of coarse, they are. The fan base for these books easily rivals any other.

It is scheduled to be released on November 21, 2008. I'm glad I waited to watch the trailers until after reading the first 3 at least. My vision of these characters is so much better than what they have done. It saddens me. I nearly want to never see the movie! I have found I 'm not alone. Not by a long shot. See for yourself.... www.Twilightthemovie.com

I know I am judging without ever actually seeing it first.... and trust me! I hope I am wrong! I hope that
Robert Pattinson can match up to my vision of Edward. That Bella, Kristen Stewart, can captivate me the same way. That Jacob, Taylor Lautner, is as I pictured him. I do hope. How wonderful that would be.  But so far, I don't see it.

The Cullen Family.... the movie version anyway

For now I hope... and forget. That's the beauty of reading. You make it your own. In some small way.

I always hate it when they ruin a book by making an awful movie.  Hopefully this one turns out better.

I'd ask to borrow one of the books in the series, but I don't know now, your leaving me!

Bill- Don't worry... I'm not far. ;) I'll still be up now and then to be sure you are treating my penthouse suite well. You can come visit when ever you want.

This movie is going to be absolutely huge. It seems like every female I know has read the whole series. Some have read these books over and over again. The funny thing is... Stephenie Meyer is local to the area. When she visited the local junior high quite a while ago (to talk about being a writer) only a few of the students knew anything about her. Now- she fills very large auditoriums and all the tickets are gone in a few minutes. It's fun to see that the rest of the world has discovered her... many of her fans have to be happy she decided to put that dream of hers on paper. Though I don't know that any movie is able to compare to one's concept of how the book should have been adapted to the screen- this one will probably still fare well- even if it disappoints the superfans.
