Sarah Palin - The FACTS

The November Elections are crucially important to the future direction of our Country. It's time for us to "move-on" from the disastrous incompetence displayed by the Bush Administration over the last 8 years - but before we can, we need to know the facts surrounding the candidates.

My biggest concern is John McCain's choice for Vice President - Sarah Palin. Not only have I blogged about how I think this choice indicates a lack of sound judgement on McCain's part, but as I learn more about the actual candidate, I discover that things are definately not what they were presented to be and some of her views are fanatical.

Sarah Palin got her first Passport in 2006.

What kind of interest or curiousity did the woman have about other countries, other cultures, and International Society if she never travelled overseas before 2006? This is indicative of a small-minded person with an indifference to the rest of the world. The governor's spokeswoman was quoted as saying Palin had traveled to Iraq, Kuwait, Germany, and Ireland - however, when researching the facts, it is evident that the "visit" to Ireland was only a refueling stop on a trip in July 2007 to visit Alaskan National Guard troops in Kuwait and Iraq.

Sarah Palin has not ordered the Alska National Guard to do anything

McCain has emphasized Palin's role as the Commander in Chief of the Alaska National Guard - but when CNN's Campbell Brown asked McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds: "Can you tell me one decision that she made as commander in chief of the Alaska National Guard? - Just one?" - Bounds couldn't, because Palin has never personally ordered the state guard to do anything.

Sarah Palin supported the "bridge to nowhere" (Pork Spending)

During her first speech after being named as McCain's running mate, Palin said she had told Congress "thanks but no thanks' on that bridge to nowhere. The Alaska governor campaigned in 2006 on a build-the-bridge platform, telling Ketchikan residents she felt their pain when politicians called them "nowhere." They're still feeling pain today in Ketchikan, over Palin's subsequent decision to use the bridge funds ($223 Million) for other projects. So in fact she accepted the money but decided how she would have it spent.

Sarah Palin requested "earmarks" that McCain had criticized

Three times in recent years, McCain's lists of 'objectionable' pork spending have included earmarks requested by Sarah Palin. She claims to be a "reformer", when in fact she spends the same way as the "old-boys-club" she so often refers to. "She was hungry for earmarks just like everybody else," said Larry Persily, who worked at the Alaska state office in Washington, D.C., until earlier this year.

Sarah Palin does not believe Global Warming is man-made.

In an interview for the September issue of the conservative magazine Newsmax.com, Sarah Palin said she does not believe climate change is caused by human behavior. "A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location. I'm not one though who would attribute it to being man-made," Palin said.

Now Palin and her allies are attempting tp stop the wheels of justice from turning ..... they are suing to stop the investigation into her alleged abuse of power when she fired her public service commissioner because he didn't fire her bother-in-law as she wanted him to.

This belief by Republican Politicians that they are above the law is typical of the Bush and Cheney Administration .... so where is the change that McCain and Palin are talking about?

It's just more of the Republican spin and rhetoric.

Stewart, If she has NOTHING to Hide WHY are they suing to STOP the investigation. If I were the one telling the truth I would want my day in Court. Gee, do you think she could be lying?

"This week, Alaska completed a $25 million gravel road that was intended to lead up to the bridge linking the city of Ketchikan to its airport on a neighboring island. The bridge project became the symbol of federal largess, and Congress eventually dropped the earmark for the bridge. The state still received the money, but last fall, Gov. Sarah Palin killed the project, valued at nearly $400 million" - CNN Onlne.

So now Alaska doesn't have a bridge to "nowhere", but rather a 3.2 mile road to nowhere - at a cost of $25 Million. The road was started before Palin became governor, but she continued to support the project.

Is this an example of how she exercises financial responsibility?

Stewart, read this somewhwere online.

Sarah Palin's understanding of the world is as shallow as Joe Biden's is profound. Is she ready for that 3am phone call?

Stewart - I thought that failing to appear for a subpoena was cause for a bench warrant for arrest. Or does that not apply to republicans either? Tod Palin the so called"first Dude" doesn't even realise that this new nickname of his makes it appear that he's John McCain's boy toy.

John - I asked the same question in my Blog "Mccain-Palin - Reformers? - No way - just more of the same." The same way that Karl Rove and Harriet Meiers ignored their subpoenas, now Palin and her cronies have adopted the same position.

More Palin Lies Exposed

Fri Sep 12, 2008 at 10:03 pm By jamie

Sarah Palin last night while talking to Charlie Gibson:

Let me speak specifically about a credential that I do bring to this table, Charlie, and that's with the energy independence that I've been working on for these years as the governor of this state that produces nearly 20 percent of the U.S. domestic supply of energy, that I worked on as chairman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, overseeing the oil and gas development in our state to produce more for the United States.

Forget foreign policy or national affairs. Sarah Palin doesn't even know the status of her own state. Well that or she is flat out lying. According to FactCheck.org, Alaska produced 14% of U.S. oil, but she said "energy". Actual energy Alaska produced? 3.5%. She only inflated her number by about 600%.

600%...that's not too bad.  Isn't that about the "Average" rate of acceptable misconception by "Washington Politicians"?

Morning Stewert,  If this were a best of five series ( debates )  the score would be 3-0 and Obama would be the winner !  I suspect most people have made up their mind about the election.  All thats left is to listen to the far right whiners console each other .  Next round will be the whiners starting to blame each other for the landslide defeat !

Hi David & Stewart,

David asked me who I'm voting for in the Presidential Election, WELL!  I just received my "Absentee Ballot" in the mail.  My spouse & 20 year old daughter filled it out last night.  To make sure the Michigan State election board receives it before Nov 4th, we are going to Calais, Maine to mail it, so they receive it on time.  We only voted for the officials we knew about when we lived in Michigan and for the Presidential candidates.

Back to your question on "who will I vote for?" that David Bolick asked me in a previous comment:  I'm voting for a candidate that I believe will bring this country back together.  He's young, probably inexperienced in some aspects, but SMART, KNOWLEDGEABLE & WILLING TO LEARN.  He THINKS on his feet and THINKS BEFORE HE SPEAKS.  I believe he will be proactive, diplomatic and will bring our country together.  Currently our  country is so disenchanting & economic segregating that we need a "new beginning" to jumpstart our economy & bring prosperity back to our country!  I guess you know who I'm voting for and WHY!!

well stated Ann-Marie.

I still can't bring my self to vote for him but I hope your guy wins cause I sure don't want the old guy who needs to sit down before he can think and is not willing to learn bacause he already thinks he knows it all and everyone will be so busy trying to jumpstart him there won't be time to fix the economy.

Good luck from a Ron paul supporter.

Hi Stewart- Great blog..I love it! But you may want to edit the FACTS to include "Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her authority" in Alaska, by violating a State Ethics Law. Just sayin;-)

That's Interesting Ann-Marie.  I have absolutely NO DOUBT in my mine that Obama will make unpresented history in the United States as the President.  I may have to join you in Canada to live to survive though.

How does one live and work in Canada and "vote" in the U.S. though?  Is that one of the 51st states Obama was referring to he visited?

Did anyone else find the Larry King interview with Levi Johnston unsettling?

The poor guy seems terrified of the Palin family and doesn't seem to have the courage to enforce his rights as a father.

It's very sad situation!
