Chippewa Lake ("Chip") is a relatively large(1,761 acres) located northeast of Brandon in Douglas County with good water quality and clarity. Residential development is moderate to high, especially around the southern half of the lake. Recreational pressure can be heavy, especially during weekend days. A state-owned public access is located on the northeast shore but parking space can be limited.

Chippewa's name came from being on the lakes used as a war route by the Ojibway Indians into Sioux Country.
