Coming to the office today I witness the traffic. This was not Augusta's usual morning traffic, this was Masters Traffic. Today we welcome the world of Golf to our area.The Masters, golf's 1st Major is in Augusta this week. Tiger, Phil, Ernie and all the world's best golfers are here to play for the Green jacket.
Augusta embraces this tournament. This is our spring break. We rent our homes to golfers & corporate guests for the week. Some families get over $10,000 for this short term rental. Most homes go for $3000 to $8000. This is why you will see some Augusta families atDisney World or the Beach for the week.
The economic impact is enormous. The estimates are well over $40 million for the Augusta economy. We also use this time to entertain corporations and show them the benefits, of moving their operations to Augusta. The red carpet tour hosted by our chamber has been working very hard over the years to sell the CSRA to the world. T-mobile is the latest to break ground on their new customer service hub.
The Masters is also the start of our Spring buying & selling season. The phones will be going crazy, The Augusta Market will kick into high gear. We anticipate home sales to be in line with 2005 & 2006, which were excellent.
