Hello Again Everyone,
My mom and dad live in Cedar City, Utah. Apparently the city has gotten together and built a very nice Memorial for the Vietnam Vets in their city.
My mom got together with her sister who's husband served in Vietnam for 4 years, and they bought Name Plates for both my father, Sid and my Uncle Steve who is no longer with us, having died from cancer just days after Christmas last year.
I am so very proud of my father for serving.
In the almost 30 pictures that were taken this day at the memorial, my dad is never really wearing his customary huge grin.
I can't imagine what our father's, grandfathers, uncles, and friends must have seen and suffered while they were there.
But I will say, "Thank You God for bringing my father home to mom and me. I don't know what my life would have been without him!"
My sister-in-law and brother were also here. Not just for my dad, but for Traci's father as well.
Here is a picture of the monument's centerpiece up close.
It is quite moving, and true, because as it says, "Some Gave All"
Surrounding this centerpiece our several plaques with information on them. A map, information on the defoliants, one for the helicopters used, another a glossary for the terms used on the name plates, and of course one to honor those fallen.
They even raised a statue in honor of our boys in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I love this picture of my father.
Here is a full view of the Memorial.
If you know a veteran, let them know that you appreciate them. And if your son or daughter is fighting right now, please let them know that they are loved, appreciated and in my prayers. Please tell them thank you for what they do for our country, and for our families.
God Bless Our Troops! Past and Present!
Nyana
