OK...big announcement! I've made a call on who will serve as my "apprentice" (victim might be a better term) for the Project Blogger contest. Without further adieu, it is Ines of Rick and Ines fame.
Invariably, the question I must answer is why Ines? Folks, if anything I'm honest. It had nothing to do with her ability to cook apple pies (:->). I tend to go with my gut on a lot of decisions, and did in this case. (My Meyers-Briggs is INFP, so it's the way I'm wired.)
Having said that, it wasn't merely a gut feeling that guided me. I looked at each person who had expressed interest Each one was a more than worthy candidate who I'm sure would have been able to withstand the "abuse" they would receive at my hands. (I'm just kidding of course. TBS says it's OK to laugh.) However, I felt Ines was the person I should choose. I hope and trust you all will respect my decision.
Having said that...we made a decision to live this experience out on the blog. That way, everyone can benefit from my tutelage. Both she and I will post about our discussions and interaction and I'll freely share with you everything I'm telling her. I will approach it from the standpoint of coach and she as pupil. She is free to say anything she wants, as I'm I. Who knows, she may even tell you guys what a mean guy I am!
While we are competitive enough to want to win this contest (and while I'm at it, let me say to the other coaches...be afraid, be very afraid) our real goal is to make the blog she's developing, a new one, serve viable, verifiable and empirical business ends. Her goal is to use the new blog as a lead generation tool, and that is our aim. If we can prove blogs have real ROI potential (or ROB - "return on blog"), then we will have served to not only accomplish Ines' particular goals, but a greater purpose as well.
We just had our first coaching session, which I will share with you in short order. On a personal note, in talking with Ines I found out we both have a real passion for Relay For Life, the American Cancer Society fundraising event. I used to work for ACS as a Relay Specialist and she is chairman of her cancer association where they are participating in their local event. We both got a bit misty-eyed talking about it.
So, we're headed off to follow the yellow brick road. I hope she won't find me to be the wicked witch of the west. She certainly won't find me to be the Wizard of Oz either, but in all probability the "man behind the curtain." (I've given her explicit instructions to pay no attention to him if that's the case.) I don't know everything there is to know about blogging, and certainly not about real estate blogging, writing the book notwithstanding. But, one thing is certain, she will get the best of what I have to offer. That's how my mama raised me!
