Make The Most Of Your Home Staging Cheat Sheet

Home Stager with Urban Presentations

I found an awesome home staging blog a few weeks ago and one of the more recent posts caught my eye. http://staged4more.com/blog/2008/07/03/the-home-staging-cheat-sheet/. The Home Staging Cheat Sheet drew on the work of one of the most famous professional home stagers out there in Barb Schwarz to try and give those trying to sell their home a quick guide as to what they should focus on.

As the property market is as saturated in Vancouver and the surrounding area as it is anywhere else in Canada, you MUST make your home stand out from the rest. Home staging is the way to do it and The Home Staging Cheat Sheet is just the resource you need to make it work. The post listed the following six points as absolute must dos if you want to sell your home, and I quote:

  1.    Get them inside (curb appeal)
  2.    Pretend you are camping (clutter)
  3.    Balance hard & soft surfaces
  4.    Work in Ones or Threes
  5.    Decide from the doorway
  6.   Make your place Q-tip Clean

All of the above points should be christened the principles of home staging because they are relevant no matter what kind of home you live in. Your home should appear well taken care of but have an air of being lived in so that buyers can see themselves in it but do not find it too impersonal and cold. Achieving this balance is not easy purely and simply because a fine line separates the two. However, it is worth giving it a try or employing a professional home stager to do it for you.
