What is the Southern Maine Market Like? A New England Girl Returns From LA.....

I'm a New England girl, born and raised in Maine and Ct but I have lived all over the world. I've been in LA for the past 4 years for my entertainment career and, like most actors, picked up a job to make ends meet, in the real estate market, while pursuing my dreams in entertainment.

Now, the market here has really had the bottom fall out as of recent and many agents are struggling. I plan to continue my pursuit of the real estate market when I move back to the Portland, Maine area, at the beginning of October, since I have learned so much and know that I can be a real asset to agents and Realtors. I will most likely continue modeling and photography on the side as I am very passionate about them but I'm really craving some stability in my work since I'm hoping to start a family very soon.

My question is..... what's the market like in Maine right now and what areas seem to be the hottest. My family lives in Buxton / Saco area and I'm planning to move to Scarborough, Gorham, OOB, South Portland, Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Freeport, Falmouth or Yarmouth with my new husband (we just got married Aug 8th) depending on where we get jobs, everything is still pretty much up in the air and open for suggestion, as you can see. My husband is a network engineer and very good at what he does so his job is in demand no matter where we go. We are also considering purchasing a home in the next year, but I digress.

I have a degree in Psychology and a minor in Biology, have been modeling / acting / doing photography and make up for the past 10 years and use to help run a software company in Portland, PromoNet, Inc, while I was in college. I am currently the marketing director and handle all of the online advertising, web development and social networking for the agent I am currently with, James Engel. I have learned a lot from him over the past couple of years and know my knowledge will be an asset in a smaller market such as Maine. I'm a very creative and artistic person so I think I would love Staging or Interior Design as well. My interests are quite varied and my skill set extremely diverse.

So, any ideas, direction, recommendations, offers or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for checking out my blog and thanks in advance for any feedback! Hope everyone is having a great day and I look forward to coming back to Maine very soon!

Can't help you with the market in Maine and since I spent three weeks in New Bruinswick in JANUARY...my question is why? Sorry...winters are brutal in that part of the world. Anyway, as you are familiar with social networking...make sure you sign up with LinkIN and some of the other networking sites.  Congrats on the New Beginnings in your life. Have lots of girls...the world needs pretty women like you.

KEVIN - Thanks for the well wishing. Actually, my whole family is there and my husband and I just want to get out of LA, there's really not much keeping us here and since I've been gone for a few years it seemed natural to move back to my family for a little while. We're actually planning to only stay a year or so and then move somewhere more temperate or interesting, such as over seas. It's just a good move to get a fresh start. Thanks again!

Tera, I am in the Sebago Lake region and the chances of finding a great buy in any of the towns you mentioned are great. Have you and your new honey found anything yet? The buyers are buying more now that the interests rates have lowered even more. Let me know if you need any more help.
