Tallmadge Ohio 9-11 MemorialTallmadge Ohio 9-11 Memorial Candles

I've never been to the Tallmadge Circle on 9-11. It has been the tradition each year to light 2,974 candles in honor of the slain civilians, firefighters, policemen and government workers killed on that terrible day. It's amazing that all the candles fit on the paths in the circle, just as if it was always meant to be.

The white candles are for the civilians who died.

The red candles are for the firefighters.

The blue candles are for the police.

And the green are for those who died at the Pentagon.

Inside the Tallmadge Congregational Church, a video memorial was playing, commemorating the events and timeline of the tragedy.

Truly a beautiful and touching memorial to the lives sacrificed on that awful day.

How beautiful at Tallmadge Circle Dawn. I love the symbolism with the colors. A day to never forget. Thanks for your commemoration.

Gary,  It was stunning. There were quite a few firefighters and police present. Very solemn.

That's beautiful...so simple but lovely.  Although I live near enough to ground zero to be directly impacted, I didn't know anyone who died personally - but that was dumb luck - or just fate.  I knew several people in the line of fire, but by God's grace, they weren't in the towers on that fateful day.

Ruthmarie, I thought so too. I'm glad you weren't scarred even more deeply by a personal loss that day. God is gracious.

Liz, It was a sight to behold in person. The quiet that fell on the circle was like a church. The cars going ever so slowly around so they could take it all in helped create the hush.

It is amazing to me how a picture can say so much! As I look at these pictures...I can almost hear the music playing in the background...something patriotic. TRULY MOVING!

Dawn - This is a beautiful memorial. It takes something like this to give a visual to people in order to realize the numbers -  2974! - the amount of candles lit in these photos, the size of a small town or a college campus... so many people lost their lives - and not one person in the scheme of things had the good conscience to come forward and stop such an evil endeavor.
