The Treasure Coast is bracing itself for the flood of research facilties coming to our area. The city of Port St Lucie has already secured many websites preparing for the transformation of our area from the "Treasure Coast" to the "Research Coast" along with Scripps opening in Jupiter, Torrey Pines in Port St Lucie and Bernham Institute in Orlando, South Florida is about to become the hub for molecular medicine and medical research. The tentacles and added commerce needed to support these facilities will be felt for up to a 35 mile radius of their facilities. Look what these very companies did for LaJolla in California. From a sleepy desert town it become the hub of exclusivity and oppulence with low unemployment and a high per capita earning potential.
The exciting part of all this is our school system. To encourage our local children to take advantage of the coming opportunities we have just secured a medical campus out at FAU and many of our schools are now offering courses in the medical field. The theory being that we prepare our children to benefit from these new companies. They get educated here, get great jobs in the medical field right here in their hometown and stay and contribute to the community. Scripps Bio Med, Berham Institute, Torrey Pines and the many other molecular medice facilities to follow will offer our communities benefits we could only have dreamed of.
