Why Am I in Real Estate

By
Real Estate Agent with McGraw Realtors

I have worked in the field of Administration since graduating from college in 1977.  From the 6th grade I had always seen myself as a business lady.  Dressed in a three piece with a brief case working in corporate America.  I did realize my dream and it was accomplished.

In 2003 I started thinking about a career change.  I just did not know what I would be interested in.  Instead of looking and searching, I decided to allow life to embrace me.  Shortly after becoming very still in my thoughts,  I met this wonderful guy and he was talking about going into real estate.  This is an area I had never considered.  I still did not give it much thought in being a real estate associate.  When he mentioned to me about us going to real estate school, I was really excited and started doing my research.  Now this is actually two years later (2006) after meeting him in 2004.

Well, things did not work out for us.  I was still so excited about going to real estate school I started class in August of 2006.  Loved every minute of the class.  I was actually consumed by the class.  I was determined to go forward with becoming a real estate asociate.

Well, to make a long story short, I completed my class, passed my examine and waited to get my provisional license at the advice of a Manager.  Since it was the end of year...I thought why pay this prorated amount and still have to come up with a bigger amount at the beginning of the year.  So I waited, activated my license on January 8, 2007.

I see real estate as a means of serving others.  I love what I am doing and I have met lots of loving people.  The world is not the way the media projects it.

I believe that anyone who dreams of owning a home should own one.  If I can play a part in helping people realize their dream of home ownership, it is all worth it.

What better instrument for the Divine to work through me as me in the form of a Realtor!  And So It is.  Amen!

Hi Rosa,

You make dreams come true!  It's all relation building.  I also took the exam last July 2007 and passed it with high marks.  The only problem was here in New Brunswick, Canada, I had to be either a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident, which at at the time, I was neither. I was in the 2-1/2 year process of going thru "Permanent Residency", but I didn't receive it until Feb 2008, so I received my Real Estate License within days of receiving my "Canadian Permanent Residency".  I started "very shy", but I'm starting to come out, since I don't have an established network, due to being from the U.S. first.  Now, I'm realizing that I have to "get out of the box" and build relationships.

Thank you for your blog, as I'm using it for "reinforcement".

As a professional real estate agent I use all of the skills I have learned over the past 30+ years. For two positions I had to learn to negotiate between constituents and state agencies which taught me how to  communicate in the truest meaning of the word.  Research and evaluation played a big part in those jobs as well as that of legal assistant to a criminal attorney.  Sales and service is a natural part of customer relations which has been a major component of every job I have ever had.  As CEO and President of my own marketing company I found working with employees and vendors was no different than working with clients or selling products.  I needed to help others so they could also accomplish their goals.  My tenacity and attention to details assures my clients that I not only give my all - I give them a little extra to get a contract to closing. Real Estate is a demanding people oriented business and I love that about it.  I am held accountable every day by my customers, clients and all of the people it takes to complete a transaction.  Working in both residential and commercial I see the broad affect the economy is playing on our lives today.  As a realtor I do make a difference.
