Heading East in Toledo, Ohio

I must admit I am not a great one to spend time blogging. I look back at my week and wonder where the time has gone and if I have used that time wisely.  This past Tuesday I had the pleasure of showing a couple of properties on Catawba Island to a lovely couple transferring into the area.  A beautiful sunny day out by the lake, what could be nicer?

The drive to Catawba Island afforded me the opportunity to relax a bit and take in the sights of the area.  Reminding me once again of all the wonderful places here in the Toledo, Ohio area.  I've enjoyed  many free  concerts at the Toledo Zoo on a balmy summer Sunday evening.   Thinking about the history of the Anthony Wayne Trail, once being a part of the Erie Canal. Crossing over the High Level Bridge glancing down at the boats in the river and over to the marvelous architecture of the downtown area. The addition Urban loft living, the farmers market, the warehouse district, the Seagate convention center, 5/3 Field, home of the Toledo Mudhens.  Out Woodville Road, passing the first of the malls in the area, brought back some wonderful memories.  Through Genoa, which has grown in its business district...open fields, waving with sky high corn stalks and a sea of soybeans. Oak Harbor, what a quaint town, seems to always be bustling. Catching glimpses of the Portage River and into Port Clinton over the draw bridge holding traffic at bay as a graceful sailboat with its majestic mast glided seemingly effortlessly through.  A weekday in September and still the Jet Express was there boarding folks for a swift ride to Put in Bay. Driving along the lake with small white caps lapping at the shore. An empty beach...school is back in session.  The curvy road to the gated Catawba Cliffs community a pleasure looking at the beach houses, some cottages, some year round homes.  Arriving at my destination, a lovely warm breeze and a view of the bay. Millers Ferry just chugging out of its dock. The drive back I remember smiling all the way, thinking just how lucky I am to be so near the great Lake Erie.  All this and I was only going east! Lots more to discover north, west and south. Whether you are looking for small town, urban and suburban living, this area provides so much in the way of entertainment, history and convenience.  Time spent wisely?  I would have to say yes this week...it brought  my thoughts back to just why I feel blessed to be a Toledo area resident....I'm still smiling.
