Night view of the Willamette River Bridge, Springfield OR

By
Mortgage and Lending with Guild Mortgage Co - Oak Harbor WA

While I was at the Fiesta Latina Saturday night, I tried a night view of the bridge over the Willamette River. I think it came out better than I expected. Needless to say, taking this kind of a picture with flash doesn't work. So, what do you think, is the picture worth the space?

Our rivers are beautiful, day or night. Come for a visit! I got an extra bedroom. :-D Carolyn, this eye candy is for you!

Fred,

I have missed so many opportunities to take "good photo's at night." I wish somebody had some advice for  this. I changed all the settings on 2 different cameras during the storm and they turned out like this. Oh well. Let me know if you come up with something.

Greg, luckily I have a camera that all I have to do it set it for night shots and it does this. I use a Sony Cybershot 5.0 with a Carl Zeiss lens. I bought the camera because of the lens. We are all so glad you are safe.

Eleanor, with this set up it is pretty easy.

Mike, are you from this area? It really is pretty at night or during the day for that matter.

Fred - I lived in Beaverton for over 10 years, plus, in the 60's I attended the University of Portland. Am pretty familiar with the Willamette Valley.

A long exposure and a tripod are the keys to low-light photography. For the night shots I took of my home I used a 30 second exposure time! If your cameral has shutter priority or manual mode try taking shots with varying exposure times 'til you find the best result. Gotta have that tripod (or something to set the camera on) though, or it's all a blur!

Excellent information Bobby. For anyone that hasn't seen it, Bobby's pictures of his house at night are outstanding. Here is the link.
