Are Magnetic Car Signs Passe?

By
Real Estate Agent with California Residential Consulting

ARE THEY A THING OF THE PAST?     OR    ARE THEY A INEXPENSIVE USEFUL MARKETING TOOL?

I have been selling Real Estate in San Diego County for the past 8 years. I have always used car signs mostly because all the agents in the office I worked at used them - as well as the majority of the agents in our immediate area (East County). Being a new at that time and having a marketing background, I thought any way to self-promote was a good way to do business.

As time went on I began to notice that agents nearer to my home on the coast were less likely to use car signs, and when I showed houses in what is considered high end zip codes, even fewer agent's vehicles sported car signs.

Here is what I have found....

PRO'S

Through the years I have enjoyed it when friends recognize my car and acknowledge me, or tell me they have seen me, or my car recently. Many leave cards or notes on my windshield to say hi, or to call them back.

It has been a plus when I am in neighborhoods for listing appts. or servicing a listing.

CON'S

Can have an unprofessional look.

Not appropriate at all venues.

Agents, (other than myself) have been called to task for bad driving habits. With your name on your car you have to politely!

I WOULD LOVE TO GET FEEDBACK FROM AGENTS THAT SELL TO ALL PRICE RANGES.

GOOD IDEA OR GIVE IT A REST....
